This is so so sad. No wonder Tanzania is where it is, and to make matters worse, there are so many people in Tanzania who think the same way. I shudder each time I see Vodacom or whatever those companies are called, handing some computers to schools. I ask myself , " what are those computers for?" are we really ready to police the use of internet? I can just think of a few things - porn, useless so called entertainment news, e-mails, wikipedia as a source of information, plagiarism etc, etc...
Majority of these kids come from homes which do not even meet the basic standards - no water, forget electricity - that is a luxury only for the privileged, they survive on 1 meal a day, they have adequate clothing (including footwear). when they get to school, maybe the classes are under a tree (weather permitting) if they have actual classrooms, then no desks to write on or benches (yes benches, more economical than individual chairs) to sit on. JK, can you take care of these first before embarking upon computers? Please!
