That is speculation and hyperbole. We have people from all over the world. The Irish (from the Republic of Ireland), Germans, Swedes, Africans etc shaped the US more than people from the UK.

Even at that hyperbole, one can make the argument that the UK was made by it's colonies. Chiefly the US.
