Successful Proposals Must…

• Have a clearly defined market opportunity to grow revenues that can increase incomes.
• Have a clearly defined plan of how you can increase revenues and incomes in 2- 4 years.
• Commit significant cash or specific in-kind contributions toward the grant activity.
• Be able to directly impact hundreds of people and community members.
• Be able to identify a path for continued growth and financing after the USADF grant ends.
• Not exceed US $250,000.
• Special consideration will be given to applications that incorporate innovative strategies to make use of new approaches and technologies, including complementary finance and information technology.
• Special consideration will also be given to women-owned organizations and applications that promote youth entrepreneurship and employment

Licha ya mabara mengi kuwa watumiaji wazuri wa mazao haya, Afrika ya Magharibi na Kaskazini ambako kuna idadi kubwa ya Waisalmu, mwezi wa Ramadhani mazao haya ni keki ya moto.

Changamoto kubwa ni kuyaanda mazao haya katika ubora. Yasiwe na vumbi, mawe na yawe katika vifungashio bora, imara na vya kuvutia.

Kabla ya covid pandemic nilibahatika kufika Morocco, nilishangaa kuona kunde kutoka China ziko dukani. Nilikumbuka kuwa sehemu kubwa ya Morocco ni jangwa lakini pia niliwaza yaani Mchina amepata hili soko na sisi Waafrika hatulioni.

Kunde za Wachina zilifungwa katika ujazo wa nusu kilo na kilo moja. Zilikua safi na zinavutia kwakweli katika macho ya mnunuaji.

Kwa sababu ya mtu mmoja mmoja kuzalisha kidogo kidogo gharama za kusafirisha kuunganisha mzigo zinakuwa juu sana. Ukumbuke pia wakulima hawasafishi vizuri Wala kuweka katika grades. Ukianza pia na kugrade ndipo usishangae kukuta grade 1 Ni 20% ya mzigo mzima, 60% Ni grade II. Hapa Sasa utakuta mazao ya Tanzania Yana Bei juu mno, Kama ilivyo kwenye mahindi. Mahindi ya Zambia Ni mazuri mno na Bei chini kidogo kuliko ya Tanzania. Soya ndio balaa lake bila angalau 1,200/kg mkulima anaona Bora atupe.

Suluhisho Ni Ushirika/Co-operatives societies. Kupitia ushirikani ndipo uhamasishaji wa kilimo unafanya, mazao yanaweza kukusanywa kwa Pamoja, kusafishwa inavyotakikana, kutafuta soko.

Tatizo jingine Ni wanasiasa na Serikali kuingilia kazi za Co-operative society mfano la mkuu wa wilaya ya Songwe.

Ushirika uliopo Sasa hivi umejaa wazee wasio na ubunifu, hawana soft marketing skills na hawajui hasa kazi ya Ushirika.
