"Scholes call was easy"
Sir Alex Ferguson says the adulation of Paul Scholes' peers made it easy for him to restart the midfielder's playing career.
Scholes stunned football last weekend when he came out of retirement in time to feature against Manchester City in the FA Cup third round. In 30 minutes on the field as a second-half substitute, he managed a pass completion rate of 97 per cent and made a higher number of accurate passes - 71 - than any opposition player during the entire game.
Hes one of the best passers in the game, Sir Alex said at his Friday press conference. "Hes always had that great talent, and hell probably be able to do that when hes 50!
Last Sunday's derby was Scholes' first competitive game since May 2011 but Sir Alex says his veteran midfielder is in fine shape.
Hes been training quite intensively for two or three weeks, and hes looking very good," said the boss. "I wouldnt be against playing him because thats the quality he brings to your team. You cant ignore that.
