United threw down the title gauntlet to rivals Manchester City on Sunday with a 2-0 win over QPR, a result which temporarily lifted the Reds above Roberto Mancini's men in the Barclays Premier League. Goals from Wayne Rooney and Michael Carrick sealed the win at Loftus Road, the Reds' sixth on the road this season, to provide a perfect start to the busy festive calendar. Fulham's list of absentees has also been minimised by the return of club captain Danny Murphy, while talismanic striker Bobby Zamora is also close to a comeback - despite failing a late fitness test prior at the weekend.
