Makamu wa Rais Dkt. Mpango afungua Mkutano wa Kimataifa wa Korosho Dar

Makamu wa Rais wa Jamhuri ya Muungano wa Tanzania, Dkt. Philip Mpango ametoa wito kwa Wizara ya Kilimo hapa nchini kufanikisha lengo na Wizara hiyo la kuacha kuuza Korosho ghafi nje ya nchi ifikapo mwaka 2026.

Makamu wa Rais amesema hayo wakati wa ufunguzi wa Mkutano wa Kimataifa leo tarehe 11 October 2023 wa Zao la Korosho unaofanyika katika Kituo cha Mikutano cha Kimataifa cha Julius Nyerere Jijini Dar es Salaam.

Amesema kuendelea kuuza korosho isiyochakatwa (ghafi) kunasababisha kupunguza ajira za watanzania, kupunguza mapato ya fedha za kigeni pamoja na upatikanaji wa bidhaa zitokanazo na zao la korosho kama vile maziwa, mvinyo, juisi na mafuta.

Mkutano huo umehudhuriwa na wadau zaidi ya 600 kutoka mataifa mbalimbali duniani ambapo kauli mbiu ya Mkutano ni Wekeza kwenye Korosho kwa Maendeleo Endelevu.

Katika hotuba yake ya ufunguzi, Dkt. Mpango amesema kuwa korosho ina mchango mkubwa katika uchumi kutokana na fursa zake katika soko la kimataifa ambapo kwa mwaka jana(2022), ilikadiriwa kuwa ni Dola za Marekani bilioni 7.

Amesema Mauzo ya zao hilo yanatarajiwa kukua na kufikia Dola za Marekani bilioni 10.5 kufikia mwaka 2030.

Hivyo, Makamu wa Rais amewataka wadau wa korosho wanaoshiriki Mkutano huo wa Kimataifa kujadiliana na kuandaa mikakati itakayoziwezesha nchi zao ikiwemo Tanzania kunufaika na zao hilo.

Amehamasisha wadau wa wanaoshiriki Mkutano kujadili mbinu za kuongeza thamani ya zao hilo ili kuondoa vikwazo vya tozo mbalimbali gandamizi, kubadilishana uzoefu wa teknolojia zitakazosaidia kuongeza uzalishaji na kuwezesha upatikanaji wa takwimu za zao hilo.

Makamu wa Rais amesema chini ya Mkakati wa Serikali wa kuleta mabadiliko kwenye Sekta ya Kilimo wa Ajenda 10/30 unaotoa mwongozo wa kuongezeka kwa ukuaji wa sekta ya kilimo kutoka asilimia 5 ya sasa hadi 10 kufikia mwaka 2023, zao la korosho ni kati ya mazao ya kimkakati yanayolengwa kuchangia ukuaji huo.

Amesema, kwa miaka kumi sasa, zao la korosho limekuwa kwenye ukuaji wa wastani wa tani 220,000 yani tangu mwaka 2013/2014 na lengo la Serikali ni kufikia mwaka wa 2030 uzalishaji uwe wa tani 1000,000.

Amefafanua dhamira hiyo kwa kuonesha malengo ya kuanzia mwaka wa 2023/2024 ni kufikia tani 400,000 na pia kwa mwaka wa 2026/2027 ifikie tani 700,000

VICE PRESIDENT, DR. PHILIP MPANGO HAS OPENED A THREE-DAY INTERNATIONAL CASHEW CONFERENCE IN TANZANIA​

The Vice President of Tanzania, Dr. Philip Mpango opened the International Cashew Conference 2023 today on October 11, 2023 at the Julius Nyerere International Conference Hall (JNICC), in the city of Dar es Salaam.

The meeting was attended by more than 600 stakeholders from various countries around the world where the motto of the meeting is Invest in Cashews for Sustainable Development.
In his opening speech, Dr. Mpango said that cashew has a great contribution to the economy due to its opportunities in the international market where last year (2022), it was estimated to be 7 billion US dollars.

He said that the sales of the product are expected to grow and reach 10.5 billion US dollars by 2030.

Thus, the Vice President has asked cashew stakeholders participating in the International Conference to discuss and prepare strategies that will enable their countries, including Tanzania, to benefit from the crop.

He has encouraged the participants of the Conference to discuss methods to increase the value of the crop in order to remove the obstacles of various oppressive charges, to share the experience of technologies that will help to increase production and facilitate access to statistics of the crop.

The Vice President has said that under the Government’s Strategy to bring changes to the Agricultural Sector of Agenda 10/30 which provides guidance for increasing the growth of the agricultural sector from the current 5 percent to 10 percent by the year 2023, the cashew crop is among the crops of strategically targeted to contribute to that growth.

He said, for ten years now, the cashew crop has been growing at an average of 220,000 tons since 2013/2014 and the Government’s goal is to reach 1000,000 tons by 2030.

He explained the mission by showing that the goals for the year 2023/2024 are to reach 400,000 tons and also for the year 2026/2027 to reach 700,000 tons
