The FIVE academy stars who could save Reds MILLIONS this summer
LIVERPOOL are expected to have a quiet transfer window this summer with Jurgen Klopp eyeing only a few additions to further improve his squad - but there are a few academy stars who he could look to in order to help add extra depth, namely

Nat Phillips
Some Liverpool fans have been crying out for the Reds to sign a new centre-back amid links to Matthijs de Ligt, due to the respective fitness woes of Joe Gomez, Dejan Lovren and Joel Matip during their spells at Anfield.

But there might be one player already at the club who can offer some extra defensive back-up in Nat Phillips. The Englishman was robbed of a chance last season due to injury problems of his own with an Achilles issue that required surgery.

The 21-year-old impressed in pre-season last year with Jurgen Klopp saying after a win over Torino in August: “Nat Phillips played an outstanding pre-season and now he played the game tonight, 70-80 minutes at Anfield for the first team. It is really nice to see how he developed.”

Phillips has trained with Liverpool’s first-team and will hope to get opportunities in the senior squad this summer, when the forgotten man will hope to prove he’s ready to be called upon when needed next season.

Rhian Brewster
It is widely reported that Liverpool are on the look-out for a versatile forward who can offer depth across the front three but there is one reason they don’t want an out-and-out No 9 - Rhian Brewster.

Daniel Sturridge is out of contract this summer and Brewster is expected to take his place having long been identified as one of the club’s most promising players.

The 19-year-old - the Golden Boot winner at the under-17 World Cup with eight goals for England two years ago - signed a five-year professional contract last June after intense interest from Borussia Monchengladbach.

And Jurgen Klopp plans to reward the forward’s faith in 2019-20 after he spending 15 months out with a knee injury, having named him on the bench in the 4-0 win over Barcelona at the start of this month.

Klopp said of Brewster recently: “He is the next really exciting prospect. If you see him training… next season will be his season, his first real season. He is now physically an adult, he grew a lot, he worked a lot and the training session today was, to be honest, pretty impressive.”

Harry Wilson
Liverpool lack the kind of attacking depth that title rivals Manchester City can boast, particularly out wide, while it has also been claimed they are missing a more natural No 10.

Harry Wilson may be the player to fill both of those voids having been exceptional for Derby County, who are bidding for promotion to the Premier League and face Aston Villa in the Championship play-off final on Monday (3pm).

Wales international Wilson - the youngest player to get a cap in his country’s history - boasts 18 goals and six assists for Frank Lampard’s Derby this season and has previously been the Liverpool under-23s captain.

How self-confessed Liverpool fan Wilson uses his minutes in pre-season for the Merseyside outfit may depend whether or not the 22-year-old stays at the club or leaves on loan, while it would take a big-money bid to prise him away permanently with Liverpool valuing the player at around £20m.

Kamil Grabara/Caoimhin Kelleher
Liverpool may well be on the search for a back-up goalkeeper in the coming months with Simon Mignolet expected to ask to leave after the campaign reaches its climax.

The Belgian, now 30, has only played twice over the last 12 months since Liverpool spent £65m on Alisson Becker who has been sensational for Klopp’s side.

If Mignolet does leave, Liverpool will have no recognised No 2 or No 3 shot-stopper but Liverpool could make the brave decision not to chase an established deputy and instead promote either Caoimhin Kelleher or Kamil Grabara.

Neither have made senior debuts, though they featured in pre-season last year, but can sometimes be seen on match days warming up with the first-team keepers before kick-off. They are both highly rated at Melwood.

Adam Lewis
Left-back was long a problem position for Liverpool until Andy Robertson’s arrival from Hull two years ago, with the £8m Scot having been a revelation for the club since then.

Robertson has limited previous first-choice Alberto Moreno to just eight starts across all competitions since December 2017 and the Spaniard’s contract will not be renewed this summer, allowing him to leave on a free.

The highly-regarded Adam Lewis could therefore become second choice to the indefatigable Robertson with the local-born 19-year-old - who penned a long-term contract in February - having many admirers at the club.

A boyhood Reds fan, Lewis has caught the eye for the under-23s with his ability to deliver dangerous crosses and passes into the box as well as his rampaging runs, which have drawn some comparisons to Robertson himself.

Klopp has made it clear that he won't be splashing record amounts of cash this summer.

“I don’t want to talk exactly what we will do, but I don’t think this is a team at the moment where we have to spend the big money, or whatever,” he said in March.

“The best way to do it is bring together a group of players, try to develop them altogether and then stay together for a while. And that was maybe the main problem of Liverpool for the last decade.

"When they had a good team after a season they went all over the world. That will not happen this year for sure.”

Roberto Firmino is a fan favourite at Anfield and he has established himself as an irreplaceable member of their team.

There is no better man in world football to play the false-nine role for the Reds, but now it looks like they may shuffle their attacking set-up to accommodate a goalscoring centre forward.

It will mean a change of shape from Jurgen Klopp, most likely to a 4-2-3-1 with Firmino as the No 10.

Liverpool could sign

Mauro Icardi

Arguably the best penalty box striker on the planet, Icardi would guarantee goals when surrounded with Liverpool’s attacking quality.

While he may not be cheap, the Argentine would surely jump at a new challenge after being left in the cold by Inter Milan this season following a contract dispute.

Liverpool may face competition from the likes of Real Madrid, but it’s the kind of marquee signing that would lift spirits after agonisingly missing out on the Premier League title by a point.

At 26 years old, Icardi is approaching his peak and it would be the perfect time to test himself in England after conquering Italy.

Timo Werner

One of the obvious picks if they can nip in ahead of Bayern Munich to secure his signature.

Klopp has a track record of developing players in the Bundesliga, a league he knows like the back of his hand. It makes sense.

Maxi Gomez

Celta Vigo have resigned to losing Gomez, who has rattled in 30 La Liga goals in 71 matches across two seasons.

Having helped them preserve their top-flight status, they’ll be nothing they can do should the Reds activate his £43million release clause.

Diogo Jota

While he may not have the capability to lead the line alone just yet, Jota fits Klopp’s system like a glove.

Proven in the Premier League with Wolves and only destined to improve, his arrival could shift Mohamed Salah or Sadio Mane into a central role where they have both flourished in spells this season.

Jamie Vardy

A wildcard addition at 32 years old, there are not many better strikers in the Premier League than Jamie Vardy.

While Leicester maybe reluctant to let him go, he’d provide blistering pace and plenty of experience to the Reds firing line. His remarkable consistency warrants a top six opportunity before his career draws to a close.

Duvan Zapata

The big Colombian has proved a real handful in Serie A this season, inspiring Atalanta who are on the brink of a top four finish, with 22 league goals.

A different profile to the above, his strength and hold up play would bring the best out of the likes of Salah, Mane and Firmino. He certainly knows where the goals is.

I hope we get Timo Werner or even Mauro Icardi

I hope we will be into the transfer mix after the final, I don't like how quiet we are.

We are talking like we have depth, taking City as a blue print for EPL, we are a bit far to the race.
Hatupo quite kama unavyofikiri mambo yanakwenda chini ya kapeti hawaweki public kwasababu ya hii fainali iliopo mbele yetu itawapotezea focus wachezaji
