Liverpool trio among the favourites for the Ballon d’Or
Odds provided by AmericanGambler.com show that three of the four favourites for this year’s Ballon d’Or are from Liverpool.

The favourite is Barcelona’s Lionel Messi at 4/7, who had to watch on in pain as Liverpool humbled his side 4-0 to progress to the Champions League Final.

Second favourite is Virgil Van Dijk at 15/8, who has already won this year’s top accolade in the UK as the PFA Player Of The Year.

Teammates Sadio Mane and Mo Salah are more distant 20/1 shots this year, as the English side dominate the shortlist.

Cristiano Ronaldo is a 25/1 shot alongside Manchester City’s Raheem Sterling, with Alison a more distant long shot at 66/1.

Hertha Berlin’s sporting director has “held talks with Jurgen Klopp” about a deal for Marko Grujic

Michael Preetz told Kicker: “We have a permanent exchange with Liverpool FC and have had some personal talks with Jürgen Klopp over the past week with Marko.

“Liverpool will sit down (with us) after the Champions League final to discuss the squad for the next season and we think Marko would do well for another season in Berlin to reach the level that Liverpool play Marko himself would like to stay in.

“I can not promise anything - only that I will try everything that the boy plays next year in Berlin.”

Kent has had an excellent season at Ibrox and Steven Gerrard wants to keep him.

Liverpool are after £12m for the winger but Gerrard is hopeful of agreeing another loan deal.

Julian Brandt looks set to stay in Germany to sign with Borussia Dortmund.

The Germany international had originally indicated he would remain with Bayer Leverkusen after the club qualified for the Champions League next season.

However, according to Bild, Brandt has rejected offers from Liverpool, Spurs, Atletico Madrid and PSG to join Dortmund.

Hoever wins Under-17s Euros
Ki-Jana Hoever helped the Netherlands win the Under-17s European Championships yesterday as they beat Italy 4-2 in the final.

He played his part in the second Dutch goal as they scored the rebound after the defender’s free-kick came back off the post.
