With it being the international
break, the Premier League have
put together some interesting
statistics which will please
Chelsea supporters and likely
infuriate Gooners.
When you consider that Arsenal
had first refusal on Cesc Fabregas
last summer, when it became
clear the Spaniard was to leave
Barcelona, well, its fair to say
Arsene Wenger has made a
rather large mistake…
So far this season, in just 11
Premier League games, Fabregas
has contributed nine assists for
Chelsea.
If he stays fit and continues on
this form, it is very likely Fabregas
will hit around 30 assists in
2014/2015 – perhaps even 40.
The record, which is impressively
held by Arsenal legend Thierry
Henry, stands at 20 during the
2002/2003 season.
The Premier League also point
out another great stat: “In fact,
the only player to exceed
Fabregas’s nine assists in the
opening 11 matches of a season
is the Spaniard himself, who had
10 for Arsenal in 2009/10.
However, for the rest of the
season, Fabregas, hampered by
injury, was only able to get three
more assists and never
threatened Henry’s record.”
Arsenal fans will be fuming if
Cesc Fabregas is crowned “king
of the assists” this season!

SIMPLY…Jose Mourinho’s
Chelsea January transfer
wishlist
Madrid’s young defender has
been made available for just £19
million.
Mourinho has made no secret of
his admiration for Varane in the
past, having given him his first
team opportunity whilst in
charge at the Bernabeu and
would consider the 22-year-old
the ideal long-term replacement
Rafael Verane

The Borussia Dortmund star is
perhaps the most wanted man in
European football at the moment
and reports this week suggest
Jose Mourinho has pushed
himself to the front of the queue
for his signature.
Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern
Munich and every top side in
England have been linked, and
reports suggest Mourinho holds
the upper hand as he is able to
offer Andre Schurrle in part
exchange.

Gerard Pique
Despite their obvious strength
defensively, Mourinho is still keen
to add another big name centre
back, with reports suggesting
the Blues will go head-to-head
with Manchester United for the
signature of Barcelona star
Gerard Pique.
The Spain international has fallen
down the pecking order at the
Camp Nou under new Barca boss
Luis Enrique with reports
suggesting a £20 million move
could be on the cards this winter.

William Carvalho
The Portuguese international
midfielder is keen on a move
away from Sporting Lisbon to
further his development and
Chelsea have been linked with a
£30 million move.
Carvalho is considered the
brightest young prospect in
Portuguese football and has
previously been linked with
Manchester United and Arsenal.
Despite Chelsea’s strength in
depth in the midfield
department, Mourinho is keen to
add his fellow countryman in the
winter transfer window.

Patrick Roberts

Mourinho remains keen to add
young British talent to the ranks
at Stamford Bridge and 17-year-
old forward Patrick Roberts has
been catching the eye of the
Premier League big boys having
broken into the Fulham first team
since the back end of last term.
The 17-year-old has made 14
appearances for the
Championship side and is
capable of playing as a striker or
on either wing.
The fact he is already located in
West London perhaps gives
Chelsea the edge in the fight for
his signature.

Internationals: Wins
for England, Spain,
Nigeria and Burkina
Faso
There were wins for England,
Spain, Nigeria and Burkina
Faso on the international
stage tonight (Saturday).
Gary Cahill played the full 90
minutes for England as they
came from behind to beat
Slovenia 3-1 at Wembley in
European Championship
qualifying.
The visitors took the lead 12
minutes into the second half
when Jordan Henderson put
through his own net, but
England were level within two
minutes when Wayne Rooney,
making his 100 appearance
for the hosts, equalised from
the penalty spot.
Danny Welbeck then scored
twice in the space of six
minutes to seal the victory for
Roy Hodgson’s side who
remain top of the group.
Elsewhere in European
Championship qualifying,
Cesar Azpilicueta was an
unused substitute for Spain as
they recorded a comfortable
3-0 win over Belarus. Isco and
Sergio Busquets scored before
the break, with Pedro
wrapping the game up 10
minutes into the second half.
In Africa Cup of Nations
qualifying, holders Nigeria
secured a precious 2-0 win
against Congo.
John Mikel Obi started for the
visitors, who took the lead just
before the hour mark courtesy
of a Ikechukwu Uche penalty.
A second goal in the 90
minute, scored by Aaron
Moses Olanare, secured the
points for Nigeria, who move
up to second in the group,
four points behind leaders
South Africa.
Bertrand Traore’s Burkina
Faso secured their progress to
the finals courtesy of a 1-0
victory against Lesotho.
Jonathan Pitroipa scored the
only goal of the game after
just three minutes.
Ghana, meanwhile, missed
their opportunity to qualify
after they fell to a 1-0 defeat
against Uganda. Christian Atsu
started for the visitors before
being substituted in the
second half.
Dominic Solanke was a
second-half substitute as
England Under-18s came from
behind to beat Poland 3-2 in
the first of two meetings
between the sides.
The young Three Lions went
in at the break 1-0 down, but
took control of the contest
after the break with goals
from Callum Connolly, Ainsley
Maitland-Niles and Adam
Armstrong.
Solanke played the last 11
minutes, coming on for Karlan
Ahearne-Grant, with his
Chelsea team-mate Jake Clarke-

Todd Kane, a member of the
Chelsea Under-21 squad, has
joined League One side Bristol
City on loan until 18 January.
Quick and comfortable on the
ball, the right-back has been
with Chelsea since he was an
Under-8.
He spent last season on loan
with Blackburn Rovers,
earning a call-up to the
England Under-21 squad.
Bristol City are League One
leaders and play away at third-
placed Swindon today
(Saturday). They are managed
by Steve Cotterill.

player profile.
Meanwhile John Swift, who
was on loan with
Championship club Rotherham
United, has returned to
Chelsea. He made four
appearances.

Ryan Bertrand set for
Chelsea chance?
Chelsea club insiders have
suggested that defender Ryan
Bertrand will be given another
chance at Stamford Bridge next
year. Bertrand is on loan at
Southampton.
After an impressive start to his
loan spell at the Saints, Jose
Mourinho has been watching
Bertrand's progress closely and
indicated that he would like to
bring the left back home to
West London. Southampton are
ready to make a bid for the
defender in January though but
are conscious Mourinho will
raise the asking price for the
defender after his rich spell of
form.
