The 33-year-old has played 621 games for Chelsea, 26 of them as a substitute, and he has scored 57 goals, comfortably the most by a defender in our history. He has been captain on 490 occasions.

The trophies he has won with Chelsea are the Champions League 2012, the Premier League 2005, 2006 and 2010, the

Europa League 2013, the FA Cup 2000, 2007, 2009, 2010 and 2012, the League Cup 2005 and 2007 and the Community Shield 2005 and 2009.

He has been Chelsea Player of the Year on two occasions, 2001 and 2006, and other individual accolades include being named PFA Player of the Year in 2005, UEFA's most valuable defender in 2005, 2008 and 2009 and five selections in the FIFA/FIFPro World Team of the Year.

It is testament to the strength of Barcelona as a club that they have not been knocked out of the Champions League before the semi-finals stage at all in the last five seasons.
Champions of Europe in 2009 and 2011, they have been dubbed as the best team of all time by many pundits lead by the likes of Lionel Messi the four-time World Player of the Year.
