Nakumbuka kuna thread moja ya mwaka jana tulikuwa tunajadili timu ipi itashinda Champions League and initially I ruled out A Madrid probably because I don't watch La Liga that much.

Lakini baada ya kuangalia mechi zake chache, nilikuwa impressed na style ya uchezaji wao. They defend very tight and attact, hasa kwa counter-attack. And this made me to change my mind on them.

Siyo vibaya kujikumbushia majadiliano ya wakati huo japokuwa Nzi alidai kuwa uchambuzi wangu ulikuwa uchwara.

Eden Hazard has appeared to question Jose Mourinho's tactics after Chelsea went out of the Champions League to Atletico Madrid.
The Blues were criticised for defensive methods employed in the semi-final first leg in Madrid and in the Premier League win at Liverpool before tumbling out of Europe after a 3-1 home loss at Stamford Bridge.
"Chelsea aren't set up to play football," Belgian Hazard told beIN SPORTS' French station.




Michael Ballack and Jamie Carragher believe that Chelsea lacked creativity



"Chelsea are set up to counter-attack - a little bit like Real against Bayern.
'I don't know what we lacked. After scoring, we had the game in our hands. Maybe they wanted it more than we did."
It was a view shared by Sky Sports' Jamie Carragher who added: "This Chelsea team at the moment does not have enough creativity to open teams up.
"Think of the attacking talent at Chelsea. But they've scored two goals in six Champions League semi-finals."
Carragher was also critical of Mourinho's substitutions after the Portuguese brought on Samuel Eto'o early in the second half with Chelsea looking for a goal to take them through. Instead the veteran striker conceded a crucial penalty which Diego Costa converted.
"I just thought it was a little bit early to go two up front," said Carragher. "It had been a tight game but as soon as they went two up front it started to open up.


"Chelsea aren't set up to play football. Chelsea are set up to counter-attack"

Fellow pundit Gary Neville added. "He's usually the king. He's renowned for waiting.
"I thought Chelsea would wait, probably until 10 minutes to go with five minutes of extra time there. Be at 1-1 and then think that in that little period they could build some pressure, keep the crowd up into the last part of the game. It was taken away from them in that 15 minute period after the substitution."
Unless there is a twist in the Premier League title race, Mourinho is poised to finish without a trophy for a second successive season.
Assessing his first campaign back at Stamford Bridge ahead of the closing Premier League matches, Mourinho said he clung to a dream which disappeared.




Atletico Madrid captain gives his reaction to the win over Chelsea in their Champions League semi-final.



"We are realistic, but at the same time we are optimistic," he said.
"When things go in a certain direction, there is a moment where you dream and you think that things are possible, even if things are not.
"And because we did well in the Champions League and in the Premier League, there was a moment where we felt we could do it.
"In the Premier League it was the match against Aston Villa that made me believe that we had no chance to be champions.
"In the Champions League, it's the same. We knew that teams had more potential than us and were more ready than us to win the competition, but because you go step by step and beat Paris St Germain after a 3-1 defeat, you build your dream.




Jose Mourinho felt Chelsea were the better team until they conceded a penalty against Atletico in the Champions League semi-final.



"And today, I think it was proved that we had our chances. Until minute 61 we were completely in the game. And 2-1 for Chelsea, or 2-1 for Atletico.
"That moment was crucial and, from that moment, the game was over. In one minute, two actions decided the game.
"Atletico's goalkeeper (Thibaut Courtois - on loan from Chelsea) makes an impossible save from John Terry's header and instead of 2-1 to Chelsea, a few seconds later a penalty. The save is amazing and the penalty is a penalty.
"After that, there was only one team on the pitch. We had immediately the feeling the game was lost."
Defender David Luiz also felt incidents early in the second half were crucial and said. "They scored when they needed to score. "We controlled the game for the first 40 minutes and then we conceded a goal at the end of the first-half and they were able to counter attack and they dictated the game.




Arda Turan scores Atletico Madrid's third goal, as they beat Chelsea in the Champions League semi-finals 3-1 on aggregate.



"In the second half, they scored the second goal and then we headed the ball against the post. If it is 2-2, it is a different game and we are back in it but then they scored the third goal and that is it."
The on-loan Courtois had an impressive night for Atletico - cementing his reputation as one of the world's best young goalkeepers - and Mark Schwarzer believes he could provide some tough competition for Petr Cech next season.
"I thought he was outstanding," Schwarzer said. "He had a great game tonight. If we'd been a bit lucky and he'd been a bit unlucky we could have got back in the game and there could have been a few more nervy moments towards the end for them. It wasn't the case.
"They are both world class goalkeepers and I wouldn't say that they are at different ends of their careers because Petr still has a long way to go with his career."

[h=4]Too soon, Jose?[/h]Questioning the tactical decisions of the two-time Champions League winning manager is a dangerous business. But given that the cult of Mourinho is such that his best decisions get analysed and lauded, it's only fair to point out that his first substitution on Wednesday was a curious one – Samuel Eto'o coming on for Ashley Cole with the scores level on aggregate and more than half an hour left on the clock. The veteran striker soon conceded the penalty but that wasn't the main talking point afterwards.



Mourinho: Penalty cost us



"I just thought it was a little bit early to go two up front," said Jamie Carragher afterwards. "It had been a tight game but as soon as they went two up front it started to open up. Hazard was an attacking threat for Chelsea but his failure to track Juanfran proved costly



[h=4]Hazard's tracking[/h]"I cannot play this game with more than one player not at the peak of his condition," Jose Mourinho told Sky Sports in his pre-match interview. "I decided on Eden." Chelsea's brilliant winger has been one of the stars of their season with his low centre of gravity and sublime skills helping to bamboozle defenders. There were signs of that early on against Atletico as he embraced the challenge of being double-marked to provide a couple of low crosses.



Goal of the night: Turan



However, as Mourinho stated, "important matches are made of details". With the contest balanced in Chelsea's favour just before the break, Mourinho would've been looking forward to getting his players into the dressing room and reiterating the game plan: ‘A clean sheet and we're in the final. We can hit them on the counter.' But Hazard switched off when tracking Juanfran back into his own area and a series of errors allowed Adrian to score. Chelsea never recovered.
It was the third goal that really killed the contest and it was revealing that it came about in similar circumstances. Juanfran again eluded Hazard and Arda Turan finished the job at the second attempt. "He had to defend that," said Neville on commentary. "Twice he's failed tonight against Juanfran." It may seem churlish to apportion blame to arguably the most gifted player on the pitch but these defensive lapses were a factor. Could Mourinho have moved Hazard into a central role and asked Willian to do the tracking back in the wide position?

[h=4]Defensive lapses[/h]In fairness, Hazard's failure to track his man was just part of the problem. Ramires had committed an unnecessary foul in the build-up, Mark Schwarzer could have claimed a floated cross that passed just yards in front of him, while John Terry's miskick and Ashley Cole's curious decision to leave the ball all conspired to allow the equaliser. After an impeccable defensive effort at Anfield at the weekend, these were mistakes few could have expected from such experienced players.
Mourinho's sides have so often been built on defensive reliability. As a result, when unexpected errors are made, it creates the sort of problems that free-scoring Liverpool have largely been able to get away with this season – especially in a starting line-up that included six players who've spent most of their careers as defenders. "We cannot concede many goals because we cannot score many goals against a team like Atletico," said the Chelsea boss beforehand. So it proved.

Ballack: Chelsea lacked creativity



Mourinho will be hoping he has more attacking options at his disposal next season and appears confident that the team will be stronger next term. The ability to break down well-drilled opponents will be a priority. "They definitely lack creativity to open teams up," said Carragher. Once Chelsea were chasing the game, their best hope seemed to be free-kicks and long throw-ins and it will take more than that if they are to find those final-third solutions on a consistent basis.
In the formidable presence of Hazard, Chelsea possess a talent to torment the best of defences, but as Michael Ballack acknowledged in the Sky Sports studio, you need more than one player with the guile to pick the lock. Oscar's struggles with form and fitness were ill-timed and if there's a player out there with the quality of Juan Mata and the legs of Andre Schurrle, it's fair to assume Mourinho would be interested.


Chelsea did test Courtois in the Atletico goal but the youngster largely had the answers



[h=4]Courtois class[/h]Before kick-off, the Sky Sports pundits speculated about the rival goalkeepers – the 41-year-old Schwarzer and Atletico's 21-year-old Thibaut Courtois - with Ballack even suggesting that he would always opt for the more experienced man on the big occasion. Schwarzer may have a couple of decades on Courtois but the Belgian showed plenty of quality and few nerves when up against his parent club at Stamford Bridge.



Tiago: Dream come true



Courtois looked assured throughout and produced several impressive saves. Perhaps the most important came from a Terry header with the game delicately poised at 1-1, getting his hands down low to deny the Chelsea skipper. Mourinho certainly felt so. "One minute decided everything," he told Geoff Shreeves afterwards. "A minute where the Atletico goalkeeper made an impossible save and then they go up the other end and get a penalty."
There was even time for Courtois to further enjoy his evening late on when he made a brilliant save with his legs to deny compatriot Hazard in a one-on-one situation. Chelsea will not be going to the Champions League final next month but one of their own certainly will be. If Courtois can deliver in Lisbon, the goalkeeper might well be one of those new additions to the Chelsea squad that Mourinho clearly needs if they are to go all the way next season.
