Mario Balotelli struck early in a perfect start for City, latching on to Sergio Aguero's pass after three minutes to put City ahead.

Balotelli's celebration was muted as ever, but City were delighted after the controversial striker put them ahead.

Ramires looked to hold off James Milner as Chelsea try to get back into the game.

Chelsea were outplayed for much of the opening exchanges, but Raul Meireles volleyed home Daniel Sturridge's cross to equalise for the Blues. ​

Lampard came off the bench, and after Joloen Lescott handled in the penalty area, he scored the penalty to put Chelsea in front.

Chelsea mobbed Lampard, and the full time whistle blew shortly after as City's unbeaten Premier League start came to an end.​
