Cahill, Matic, Ivanovic, and Azpilicueta steadied their national teams on Tuesday

hile the trio of Chelsea starters for Brazil headlined Tuesday's international action, four other Blues' players got international starts during the day's action. Two of Jose Mourino's preferred eleven started on the pitch in Athens, as Serbia defeated Greece 2-0. The pair looked like their usual, composed selves as the Serbs bounced back from their 3-1 defeat to Denmark in Euro 2016 qualifying, playing the full 90 minutes in their victory.

In Glasgow, Gary Cahill got his usual start in the center of the England defense. He only played 66' in the 3-1 victory, and wasn't on the pitch for Scotland's consolation goal.

Cesar Azpilicueta rounded out the Chelsea contingent, starting at right back for Vincente Del Bosque's Spain side in their friendly against Germany. It was a solid,if somewhat unspectacular performance in the 1-0 defeat to Germany, but Azpilicueta probably has his work cut out for him to take the starting right back spot from Juanfran, who was sensational in Spain's previous game.

Chelsea have started work on a
£20million deal to sign Borussia
Dortmund star Marco Reus after
Jose Mourinho ordered his
signature.
The Blues have been strongly
linked with a move for Reus in
the last few weeks, with the
Dortmund star certain to leave at
the end of the season.
And now the Daily Express says
Chelsea are ready to begin talks
with Reus’ agent over a transfer
to Stamford Bridge, with
Mourinho driving the deal.
The Special One is desperate to
sign Reus and wants to thrash
out an agreement quickly, ready
for the attacker to arrive in the
summer.
Reus has a release clause set at
£20million and Chelsea are happy
to meet that to seal the deal.

pulled in more than 220
minutes between them as
the Selecao took on Austria
in Vienna, a friendly far
more challenging than it
sounds at first blush. Brazil
were given a tough test,
conceding their first goal
since the World Cup in the
process, but came through
in the end with a narrow
2-1 victory.
Willian, Filipe Luis and Oscar
all started, and it was a
fairly mixed day, all told.
First, the good: the Blues
managed to grab both
Brazil assists -- Oscar
dropped a corner onto the
delightfully-coiffed head of
our old pal David Luiz for
the game's opening goal
and Filipe Luis played the
pass for the winner, a
delightful strike
from Roberto Firmino
which you will all watch
now because it was cool:
Assists are good, of course,
but in general the overall
play wasn't so great. Oscar
and Willian were largely
stifled by the Austrian
defence, and the former
was actually the man to
blame for the hosts
grabbing a goal, conceding
a penalty by hacking down
Andi Weimann in the box
with an absolutely dreadful
tackle.
At this point it's tempting
to say it wasn't a good
showing by Chelsea's
representatives, but from
the club standpoint they
managed to negotiate
another meaningless
friendly without anyone
getting hurt, so ... great.
Now get back to London so
we can prepare for West
Brom.

appear in Koln's first team and is

the problem is."
"Koln plays well without me and
the manager doesn’t have any
reasons why he should change
the defenders. But I still hope I
will play. If not then a change has
to come.
"I am in touch with Chelsea, but I
don’t have any exact news about
my future.
"I didn’t know I wouldn’t play.
The club came to England in
summer and told me they would
like to have me there.
"At first they were happy with my
performances but then I didn’t
play in any game. I don’t know
what went wrong.
"Chelsea is also nervous and
disappointed about my loan to 1
FC Koln. We will be resolving my
situation in winter.
"I want to play during the next
half year. It is in my interest and
that of my agents and of Chelsea.
We will solve it."
Kalas remains contracted to
Chelsea until 2017 and has
revealed he has offers from
German, Dutch and English clubs
but admits a return to Stamford
Bridge is unlikely.
He added: "I left Chelsea because
I wanted to play regularly.
"The possibility to stay in Chelsea
is very scant."

Chelsea interest in Marco Reus
would be no surprise. His €25m
buyout clause would fit right in
with the club's continual quest,
and success, to stay on the right
side of Financial Fair Play. Reus
would surely be attracted to the
idea of playing for Chelsea and
living in London and for Borussia
Dortmund it would provide a
destination which wasn't Bayern
Munich.
Borussia Dortmund are still
fighting hard to get the player to
sign a new contract, minus the
€25m clause, and are ready to
throw more money at that plan -
as German clubs look forward to
increased TV money. Should that
fail then a Reus move outside of
the Bundesliga is obviously
preferable for them.
Reports over the past couple of
days from the British press have
said that Jose Mourinho is
encouraging Chelsea to kick off
talks with Reus' agent, but in
Spain last week it was claimed
that talks have started. Marca
were covering Real Madrid
interest in Reus and they
explained that Mourinho is the
danger man. He, according to the
Spanish newspaper, had already
been in contact with Volker
Struth, who represents Reus.
On top of that, Roman
Abramovich was said to be very
keen to provide Mourinho with
what he wants, having again got
more involved in Chelsea
transfers to try and help his
manager. It all sounds very
promising indeed, but the
problem is the competition.
Bayern Munich, both the Spanish
giants, and the Premier League's
great and good have all been
linked. It looks like Reus literally
has his pick.
