This bridge connects Siaya County to Busia County.

Dho Goye is Luo word which loosely translates to (Entry of the passage). This is where River Yala passes as it enters into Lake Victoria. The water on the downside is River Yala, on the upper side is Lake Victoria.

When I was young I used to come here just to see how the river connects with the lake, funny enough the river tends to be clean and adopted the colour of the lake at the entry point in contrary to how other rivers join the lake.

So many lives have been lost there due to the speed at which the river enters the lake, regularly the the river was overwhelming the channel to the extent the waters were spilling into the road. There's only a small hole where it could swirl on

Then appear onto the lakeside through underwater spring. It's always very refreshing to watch.

There's a bakery on the other side known as Alicia bakery, they are the major supplier of bread in Nyanza and Western Kenya, their trucks were being swept almost daily by the river.



There's also a resort that was swallowed by the river when it overflowed. People thought that it was temporary and it will flow back but unfortunately it remained the same.

I'm happy and grateful that the bridge is coming up.

Finally that place is a place like no other. The breeze that comes out of there can take away all your stress and problems. Most people usually go there just to seat and do nothing.
