Hizo ni kama point 6 za bure back to back kwa Arsenal kama wanataka kuwapa kwiki ya hali ya juu Chelsick. Kama waki-capitalise itakuwa kasheshe kabla ya mwisho wa mwezi.

Sol Campbell has confirmed to ESPN Soccernet that he intends to re-sign for Arsenal until the end of the season.

• Senderos confirms desire to leave
Campbell, 35, is available on a free transfer after leaving League Two side Notts County in September and has been training with Arsenal in recent months.

He is now in talks over a deal with the club and played for the reserves in the 4-2 win at West Ham on Tuesday night, coming off at half-time with his side 2-0 up. It appears the match at Upton Park was a form of trial, with Wenger seemingly keen to ensure that Campbell can prove his fitness and also regain his match sharpness before committing to even a short-term contract until the end of the season.

Campbell expects to play a couple of reserve games before that decision is made and he told ESPN Soccernet ahead of his comeback: "I shall be playing in the reserves at Upton Park tonight - it must be two years since I last played there. I cannot wait. I cannot tell you how much I've missed playing after being out so long since leaving Notts County.

"I need to get minutes under my belt, a couple of reserve games at least, before I can start looking any further ahead. I hope to sign for Arsenal until the end of the season. There are still a few technicalities to iron out, but I want to sign for Arsenal until the end of the season, and it's fantastic, great, marvellous.

"The old enthusiasm is back. I've got to tell you it seems as though I have never been away. I'm ecstatic really to be back at Arsenal, and I have worked bloody hard to get there."

He added: "Arsene Wenger has been an inspiration. He has watched me closely after letting me train at Arsenal for nearly two months now. He's not stupid - he wouldn't have taken me back if he didn't like what he has seen, and I have worked and worked.

"I do believe I can contribute. I really have my confidence and fitness back and believe I can make a big, big contribution. There is fantastic quality all around the pitch within this Arsenal team and I want to be part of it, and will make a big push to try to do that, but it's little steps at a time. First step is at Upton Park; the next step is more football."

Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp recently said that if Campbell returned to peak form and fitness, he could still be playing for England, but Campbell acknowledged that it is very early to be talking about a return to international duty in South Africa.

"First steps, first steps," he laughed. "It is just a pleasure to be back on the pitch, and pitch-time is what I need. I am going to enjoy it, really enjoy it. I've been out far too long, and I have worked hard to get back on the field. I've been training hard, working hard, and I now want to be involved."

Newcastle were among the clubs to have expressed an interest in signing Campbell, but he admits returning to a side with title ambitions will be a significant step-up.

"There have been a few clubs, quite a bit of speculation, but going back to Arsenal - well, that is serious, and I am serious about this," he said.

"I've missed it and I've a gut feeling this is the right move. It's no longer a hunger to get back - it's turned into a craving. I am champing at the bit. I'm fresh, I'm raring to go. It's unbelievable to be back at Arsenal."

Wenger admitted last week that he was considering bringing the defender back.

"He has a fantastic attitude and good fitness," Wenger said. "Of course he is not the youngest, but he is in a very good shape. He can still play in the Premier League - I've said that many times.

"He is important in the dressing room as well. He's positive with the young players. Every year we have one or two like that and I think a Premier League club will sign him."

A statement on Arsenal's official website on Tuesday read: "Tonight's reserve team to face West Ham United at Upton Park features Sol Campbell, who plays on a Reserve League registration, with a view to a permanent move back to Arsenal Football Club. Talks are ongoing with Sol with a view to a permanent move back to Arsenal Football Club."

Naona kuna timu inatafutiwa Muarobaini.

...right move.

...aaaah, nawewe ushaanza sasa. 'sherehe haijaanza ushaanza kuondoa viti!'
...hebu tuachie na wachezaji wetu!

Natamani kuona wakicheza kwa pamoja sol campbell na Sylvestre...kwa kwa kwaaaaaaaa...

Habari njema

'Clichy will be on the bench – minimum'

Gael Clichy has been named in an Arsenal squad for the first time since the North London derby on October 31.

Speaking to TV Online on Wednesday, Arsène Wenger confirmed, as expected, that Cesc Fabregas would return after recovering from the hamstring injury he collected against Villa on December 27.

However the manager was more cautious about Clichy, who had been suffering from a back problem since the 3-0 against Tottenham ten weeks ago.

At Friday's press conference, Wenger confirmed that Clichy would travel and did not rule out him starting.

"Cesc is back in the squad for Sunday and Gael is back as well," said the manager. "He will be minimum on the bench.

"It's good to have him. With Gael we were uncertain for a while how long he would be out whereas Cesc we knew was short-term."

However the wait goes on for Theo Walcott and his rib injury.

"He is not back yet," said Wenger. "I believe we have to be patient for one or two more weeks, not more."

Wenger admits Senderos could leave Arsenal

Arsène Wenger admits he does not know if Philippe Senderos will still be an Arsenal player at the end of the current transfer window.

With Sol Campbell poised to rejoin the Club, reports have claimed that the Swiss defender wants to quit Emirates Stadium in search of first-team football ahead of the World Cup.

Speaking at his press conference on Friday afternoon, Wenger accepted that Senderos may leave and says he would understand the 24-year-old's decision if he wanted to move away from the Club.

"I don't know [if he will leave]," said Wenger. "It depends on his choice and the opportunities he will have.

"The target of the football player is not not to play. You expect a player to want to play of course.

"There is no disappointment there [in this situation]. I want players to be happy and we manage to make most of them happy here."

Canales flattered by interest
Racing youngster refusing to read too much into transfer talk

By Lucas Brown Last updated: 14th January 2010

Racing Santander starlet Sergio Canales admits he has been shocked by recent media attention.

The 18-year-old midfielder hit the headlines on Saturday after scoring twice in Racing's 2-1 victory at Sevilla.

Two composed finishes saw him catapulted into the limelight, and have led to mounting speculation regarding his future.

The likes of Real Madrid, Barcelona, Arsenal and Liverpool have all been linked with a move for the gifted youngster, despite his lack of senior experience.

Canales admits the furore has caught him by surprise, especially the transfer talk, but the talented playmaker insists his attention remains solely on life at Racing for now.

"I'm relaxed but a little surprised," he said.

"At present my preference is to stay at Racing. They are the ones who gave me my debut and minutes in the Primera Liga, but I'm flattered by all the offers."

Reports in Spain suggest Racing have verbally agreed fresh terms with Canales but, until the paperwork is signed, the possibility of him being lured away remains a distinct possibility.

Sergio Canales rumoured scotched by Wenger

By Richard Clarke

Arsène Wenger has denied rumours that he is chasing highly-rated teenager Sergio Canales.

The 18-year-old midfielder from Racing Santander is one of Europe's top talents at the moment and has been linked with a host of leading clubs, including Arsenal. However those stories are not true.

"No," said Wenger at his press conference when asked about links with Canales. He added: "I can only say no because it is no."

Denilson
January 15
Denilson was stretchered off during the 2-2 draw with Everton and Arsène Wenger does not expect to have him fit for the trip to Bolton. "At the moment I count him out," said the manager. "It is an abdominal muscle problem but we don't think it will be long term."

Nicklas Bendtner
January 15
Nicklas underwent hernia surgery in November and after sustaining a groin injury in training the striker is now around two weeks away from making his comeback. "He is doing well in training so the news is quite good," said Arsène Wenger ahead of the 2-2 with Everton. "I would say he could be back in two weeks."

Jack missed Saturday's 2-2 draw with Everton due to a hamstring problem but the midfielder isn't expected to be out for long.
"Jack Wilshere is out with a small hamstring problem," said Arsène Wenger. "We do not think it is a very big [problem]."

Kieran Gibbs
January 15
Kieran has had surgery on a metatarsal injury sustained in the 2-0 win over Standard Liege. He is expected to be out for another two months. According to Arsène Wenger, the surgery went well. "Kieran is doing very well," said the Frenchman on December 3. "I had him on the phone and it looked to be completely fine."

Johan Djourou
January 15
Johan suffered a knee injury while on international duty in August and faces a lengthy lay-off. "Johan is [out for] six to eight months," Wenger said on November 9. "He had big surgery, and it is a big blow for him and the Club. He will have to be patient this season."

Robin Van Persie
January 15
The striker was injured during Holland's friendly against Italy in November and, after an initial diagnosis suggested he would be out for six weeks, it was discovered that the 26-year-old would need to undergo surgery. During a webchat with Arsenal.com the manager revealed that though the surgery went well, Van Persie will miss the majority of the rest of this season. "If you are very positive you would say [he'll be back in] April," said the Frenchman. "If you're a bit cautious you say May. It is virtually the rest of the season."

Sol Campbell rejoins Arsenal Football Club

Arsenal is delighted to announce that Sol Campbell has rejoined the Club until the end of the 2009/2010 season.

Campbell (35), who spent five seasons at Arsenal between 2001 and 2006 is a vastly experienced player for both club and country. During his distinguished career, Sol has made 462 appearances in the Premier League and is currently fourth on the all-time Premier League appearances list. Campbell has also been a member of the England squad for six major tournaments between 1996 and 2006.

Originally joining Arsenal in July 2001, Campbell won five major honours with the Gunners, including the league and FA Cup ‘double' in 2002, and was an integral part of the historic ‘Invincibles' squad, which went the entire 2003/04 Premier League season unbeaten.

Manager Arsène Wenger said: "We are delighted to have signed Sol Campbell until the end of the season. For both club and country, Sol's career just speaks for itself. He is a hugely experienced and intelligent footballer, who will bring a great amount of quality and knowledge to our squad. Sol as a player and a person will be an enormous asset to us.

"Sol has been training with us since September and during this time he has shown he still has the required fitness, hunger and passion to compete at the top level."

After completing his move back to the Gunners, Campbell said: "I'm so happy to be rejoining Arsenal. I have many great memories from being here before and still have many friends at the Club. I've been working very hard at the Arsenal Training Ground, I feel really good at the moment and I'm ready to give my all. We're in a strong position and I want to help Arsenal be successful this season."

During his hugely successful first spell at Arsenal, Campbell made a total of 197 appearances for the Gunners, scoring 11 times. Fittingly, he scored in his last appearance in an Arsenal shirt - the 2006 UEFA Champions League Final, when the Gunners narrowly lost 2-1 to Barcelona in Paris.

Campbell left Arsenal in the summer of 2006 and joined Portsmouth, where he made 95 appearances in three seasons with the south coast club, during which time he captained the side to their FA Cup Final victory in 2008, Pompey's first major trophy in over 50 years.

Campbell, who will wear the number 31 shirt, played 45 minutes for Arsenal Reserves at West Ham United on Tuesday night. The Gunners' second string were 2-0 up at half-time when Campbell came off as planned, after playing the match through a Reserve League registration.

Campbell is the first player under Arsène Wenger to rejoin Arsenal, and only the fifth player in the Club's history to re-sign for the Gunners. The four other players were: John Lukic (1983-1990 & 1996-2001); Martin Keown (1982-1986 & 1993-2004); Jock Rutherford (1913-1923 & 1925-1926) and Hugh McDonald (three spells - 1906; 1908-1910 & 1912-1913).
