If these US diplomats did not get Kikwete's name right on a consinstent basis, I wonder what else did they misread and as a result are now misleading.
I am taking three major points here.
1. The US Embassy in TZ cables (the handful I have read, I am on page 5) are mostly accurate/ plausible.
2.Despite the above assertion, they are not infallible or devoid of the effect of the American prism, or even schism.
3.Because of 1 and 2 above, effort should be made to verify and corroborate information not already known, especially when such information is controversial and may be subject to Americans unfamiliarity with the chaos that is Tanzania.
Having said that, reading these official cables, especially the unredacted, gives a strong confirmation of what we have been asserting here all along.
Just a few examples, Game Theory - with all his controversial input, now vindicated- asserted here long ago that Tanzania does not have a Foreign Policy worth it's weight in salt. We are now learning - more like confirming if you believed GT- that not only do we lack a FP, we do not even have the right number of staff at MOFA, and the few "vipanga" there are inadequately equipped/ trained. Vipanga wanaosifika kama Balozi Mulamula na Balozi Salim Ahmed Salim wanaenda US Embassy kubwabwaja mambo yanayo undermine national security for the price of a lunch and hobnobbing with US diplomats!
We have always talked about Kikwete and corruption, now we know that even the suits he wears are bribes.
Let's dig some more.
