Hi Great thinkers,
I am back again as I promised.
As I have already said ealier and I say it again, the KILLERS of TTCL is the CCM government under leadership of KIWETE and his henchmen. Most of government leaders are either SHARE HOLDERS or CHAIRMAN/CHAIRPERSON/BOARD MEMBERS in Foreign MOBILE operators. We have live examples:
- Pius Msekwa, the former Speaker of Tanzania Parliament was Chairman Board of Directors Vodacom Tanzania.
- Salim Ahmed Salim, the former AU Secretary General,PM and Minister is ZAIN/AIRTEL shareholder and Board Member.
- Joseph Sinde Warioba, the former PM and Minister is ZAIN/AIRTEL shareholder and Board Member.
- Rostam Aziz, the MP for Igunga Constituency is Vodacom shareholder and Board Member.
- Basil Pesambil Mramba is Board member and shareholder in Zain/Airtel.
This is just a list of some few Government leaders who are fully engaged in Mobile operators business and therefore making all possible means to make SURE that TTCL is no longer there.
About 2 years ago 2009/10 a secret letter from ZAIN to the Deputy Minister(by then Doctor Maua Daftari) was revealed at the Ministry of Science and Technlogy headquarters STATING A STRATEGIC PLAN TO STOP TTCL FROM OPERATING AND EXPAND THEIR TTCL MOBILE PHONES as it will adversely affect other Mobile operators!
The strategic plan was to make sure that TTCL MOBILE network be controlled and limited! In this plan TCRA wa involved in such a way that TTCL can not expand its Mobile phones without the TCRA authority.
TTCL was allowed under special LICENCE to expand its network ONLY by 100,000 customers per year! While other Mobile operators are talking of a Customer base of 4m to 6m like Vodacom TTCL have to expand by 100,000 per year. That means, by just simple arithmetic TTCL can achieve a 1m customer base after 10 years!!!.
This can be proved by poor coverage of TTCL MOBILE. There is only one BTS(a Microwave system which connect mobile customers) in most Regions or Districts to cater for TTCL mobile customers. I know one region where there is ONLY ONE BTS!!!!!! Other companies like Vodacom,Tigo,Zain/Airtel have 30-50 BTS systems approximately in the same region.
The cost of 1 BTS ranges between 200-300m Tshs. which TTCL can afford.
I shall come later on more stories about TTCL.
