Why has Americans given Tundu Lissu a silent treatment?

Tundu Lissu's situation is a very sensitive matter, don't let others fool you into thinking that it is not. We are now walking in unchartered territory.

If Lissu was Chinese or Iranian, chances are high that he would've been received in Washington with a heroes welcome.

For a high profile politician like Lissu who just survived a serious attempt on his life to go to a high profile American university and be relegated to a mere classroom of hardly 30 people is a serious statement that some historian somewhere has noted down. Someone somewhere has also certainly appreciated that American gratitude! I can't help but to wonder what he is prepared to give them in return to show his appreciation.

To attentive eyes, Lissu's low key reception in Washington also reveals the importance of our stability to their interests.

Some of us, silent political analysts that is, have always been intrigued by the relationship between these two countries. I remember there is one thread I made years ago asking if this relationship is sort of Machiavellian. That is, two parties that don't really trust each other but have learned to use one another in a way that makes both parties happy but the mistrust is always there. There hasn't been a single person to expose this relationship for what it really is.

I am sure privately, American officials are expressing to Mr. Lissu how 'hurt' they are with his situation. They are probably trying not to cause any diplomatic rift with Tanzania, considering Tanzania had no problem kicking out the EU ambassador few months ago.

But to some of us their silence to this matter is not a mystery. Mr. Lissu has to promise them something bigger than they are receiving now from Tanzania if they are to say and do anything. Too bad the cold war is over and there is no Soviet Union to use as a bait against the Americans.

For some time, in my personal opinion I believe Lissu has been making some serious tactical and strategic mistakes. Now that he is caught between a rock and a hard place, it isn't going to be easier.

Lissu means well and he is certainly a very brave man. We should feel lucky to live in his lifetime and to witness the birth of a legend. If he can surround himself with very smart people, there is hope that history is going to favor him.

Mwalimu Nyerere once asked, "Watanzania, who is your uncle?" At the moment, it depends on which side on the curr8ent political climate you are on.

What you don't know is a dark continent.Tanzania is with barrick the main shaholder and main investor in the gold mines.Accacia is not a main investor it is just a management company.You are not well informed.If their I'd a big problem is not between barrick and Tanzania government it is between Acacia the management company that was not fulfilling it's management duty to submit taxes etc on behalf of its principal Barrick gold the main investor.Lisu and Chadema were and are still with Acacia the management company not with Barrick the main shareholder for reasons he knows himself.Tanzania opened the Pandora box about Acacia.And Barrick gold took immeadiate steps.We don't have Major problems with Barrick Gold the problems we have is with Acacia the management company and their supporters the Tundu Lisu and chadema who stand with Acacia the management company and not Barick gold the main shareholder and Tanzania government.That question should be answered by Tundu Lisu and Chadema

Please usidanganye mchana kweupe. Acacia own 36.1% but barrick own 63.9%. Also remember ACACIA have a power to reject agreement between Tanzania and Barrick. Pia tambua upto now barrick agreed nothing. Above this not only acacia issue their so many problems caused by magufuli. What about European ambassador? Etc what about gas resources?. Do you know why magufuli opted for water electrical power?. Because he no our gas is not ours and just what he did is to impose bitter mining and gas act. Are you their?

In short Lisu and chadema have no political science advisors it is not their fault during President Kikwete era Kikwete gave them so much freedom that everybody in CCM and opposition felt that to be President or national leader is not a big issue that is why CCM got 42 presidential members seeking to be presidents including standard seven primary leaver a farmer from Kigoma Tanzania who didn't know what is secondary school is or how secondary school building looks like.Kikwete gave confidence whether true or false he knows himself that anybody can be a President because there is no college or school that teaches people to become presidents!!! So people like unstrategic Tundu Lisu are a product of that theory!!!! while many in CCM have cowed down knowing that to be a President you need to be very strategic first in local politics by showing like Magufuli what you have done to them before becoming a President.Opposition the Tundu Lisu , Zitto Kabwe ,Fatuma Karumr etc still believe no need to show what you have done to your people as a member of Parliament or leader shouting for whatever nonsense against the government is enough after all there is no school that Presidents study to be presidents!!!!!! So they treble on anybodys foot be it Boeing company , government etc thinking that by that it is enough for them to be presidents! As long you get ululations from online users who are not voters!!!!!

It is OK to dream.One time I was beaten by a police because I insulted a traffic police when he stopped our hired school bus that was driven by a driver who had no driving license when we were going to a disco after graduation.After that severe beating when I slept I dreamed that I have been appointed a chief of police in Tanzania by the president .And the first thing I did after appointment in that dream I fired that police who beat me from the job and I ordered him to be jailed for life for beating me.When I woke up my body was swollen and I felt pain all over my body my mother had to send me to hospital for treatment.And when they asked me My Job I said I have no job I have just finished secondary school. I was not a chief of police that I dreamed!!! It is OK to dream let him and whoever go ahead
