Elections 2010 Obama Congratulates Tanzanian People, Shein but skip congratulating JK

Dah

mkuu, kule first page ulishaanza kwa kuoneysha kwamba Obama's recognitioncould be insignificant, so i wont dwell to what you want me to coz i had already noted you point of view

allow me to ignore your post please

And of what significance is his recognition of our president or election? We are a free country. We will work with those who are inline with our principles, and only those.
this comes from a Tanzanian, imagine how blinded we are when invited to the dinner by "chief"
... we talk of principle = stealing
we talk of free country = anarchy
we work with only those = crap!
we question significance of a country that everywhere Mr president went during election campaigns mention that name ten times more than our own income engines such TRA, treasury, kilimo, madini, mifugo, or country's potential == CRAP, CRAP!!!

You have indeed ignored my post; by responding!
Thats what happens when there is no answer to the question.

TRUE THAT

Mimi naipenda sana bongo, ila nimejaribu kuchakachua mawazo yako mwenyewe na kugundua kwamba tayari ulishaweka maamuzi au msimamo hukusu recognition ya Obama... so anything thereafter would be insignificant

Ok, to answer your question, i dont care kabisa kuhusu zanzibar kwani naona ni ubakaji wa democracy sehemu yenye watu less than 10% ya nchi kuwa na unfair represetation ya wabunge, just to start with... ningekua mimi ningewapa majimbo manne tu

Now, kuhusu democracy kwa zanzibar, i would say yes and no... yes kwamba wazanzibari wamekubali kubakwa kwa hiyari na ghiriba za CUF na CCM, and no kwani ubakaji umeharibu meaning ya democracy

As I said to President Kikwete when we met at the White House in 2009, the people of the United States support all Tanzanians in your efforts to institutionalize democratic, transparent governance, to realize the full potential of your Union, and to ensure that the steps you have taken together toward a lasting peace and prosperity cannot be reversed.
Huu ni direct ujumbe kwa Kikwete personally na ningekuwa yeye I would be worried maana hii ni warning ...
Hebu tutafakari...

Indeed, this is the bottom line, or if you like, the key works of President Obama’s statement. It confirms why Kikwete was not the subject of the congratulatory message but instead the people of Tanzania, on the one hand, and Shein/Seif on the other. The people of Tanzania played their part very well in the electoral process; as did Shein/Seif in arriving at unity government. But clearly, in a diplomatic tone, the statement blames Kikwete for failing to endeavor in “efforts to institutionalize democratic, transparent governance” as Obama told him at the White House in 2009.

Tanzania has in place an electoral commission (NEC) which is hand-picked by, and therefore answerable to, the chairman of CCM. Though not explicitly provided for by the law, effectively NEC operates as an agent of the ruling party that ensures that people’s right to alternative choice is frustrated at the ballot box (lack of transparence!!).

Our constitution is framed on the basis of the dictates of a single party environment that, to a great extent, limit civic rights. Typically, for example, a qualified citizen is barred from contesting for an electable political post unless he/she is sponsored by a political party! This week we witnessed a very bizarre situation whereby the incumbent speaker of the National Assembly, Mr Samuel Sitta, could not stand for re-election solely because he was dropped by his party! This is a serious constitutional flaw as Mr Sitta could nonetheless still have proceeded to contest an independent (if the constitution so allowed). So, as a matter of principle, people’s rights should transcend the dictates of political parties.

Besides, the constitution provides for a sort of an imperial president who is above the law!

Unfortunately, Kikwete has always turned a deaf ear to calls for a new constitution from various quarters.

Prior to the re-introduction of multi-party political system in 1992, the Nyalali Commission recommended the abolition of 40-plus draconian laws (including the infamous Newspaper Act of 1996), which were incompatible with the newly adopted democratic environment. To date all the repressive laws are still in force!

So, reading between the lines, President Obama’s statement also sounds his frustration over Kikwete’s failure to address the flaws detailed above. And if Kikwete does not act now, his second term will be yet another lost opportunity and therefore he will have no legacy to speak of.

THE WORST POST OF 2010

thanks for telling him/her the truth.watz tumezoea propaganda/jokes when discussing sensitive matters kama hizi.

Hii ndo transparency and democracy? Naona huyu jamaa naye anataka tu kujifurahisha. Sishangai kuona hata huko kwake hakubaliki tena.

Why should we care?
1. Because JK himself on the campaign trail told us that if Marekani likes you then you are safe and he made it a point that George W Bush trusted him and called him a "good man" and that Obama also trusts him, so we Tanzanians should re-elect him as he will ensure that Tanzania will receive a lot of aide because of his 'special' relationship with the US

That is so retarded and dumb!! If there are people who believed him and actually voted for him on those grounds then my motto is validated beyond earthly proportions.

2. Because the recognition of any democratic government by the major nations is important. If it were not important Myanmar would not have set Ang Syu Kyii free and made even lame attempts of democratic election
Every nation is major.

3. 45% of our budget depends on foreign aid that comes from developed economies including the US
Well...that's because we are too dumb and stupid. We are not resourceful, we are not inventive despite being told we have a wealth of natural resources. How many European countries with meager resources that are far more prosperous than us? If our budget is significantly dependent on foreign benevolence then we have no one to blame but own dumb asses.

Trying to dismiss this would make sense if JK's campaign would NOT have centered on foreign aid (aka misaada) and the importance of his frequent travels/visits.
I dismissed his campaign and dismissed his ridiculously unreasonable campaign claims and promises. Therefore whatever the US (or whoever else) says doesn't impress me much.

may peace be upon you great thinkers!
Hapa ndo napopenda jammi forum. You rock guys!

Based on your above reasoning you have no reason to be impressed kwa kweli.
Nilidhani you are one of those who were JK party and suddenly you think US endorsement is not important.

But before you dismiss the people who voted for JK we should understand that some of our people are not properly educated and they have been intimidated for without CCM this country will be up in flames. So we have a long way to go..
This is not say that our Mh Prez JK won the election fair and square ... I believe this year was the year of change and it was halted with massive rigging, intimidation and dirty politics. We didn't know how low they can get.. but now we do...
