Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has insisted defender Luke Shaw has a future at the club, despite his omission from the first team set-up in recent months and an interview claiming he wants to be reunited with his old boss Mauricio Pochettino.
Shaw has not started a Premier League game for United since April and has been restricted to appearances in the Carabao Cup this season, amid suggestions that he could be part of a swap deal involving Danny Rose.
Shaw’s quotes claiming he wants to work with his former Southampton manager Pochettino were viewed as inflammatory when they appeared in the media on Thursday, but Mourinho seemed unconcerned by the comments.
“Luke Shaw was just honest,” he stated. “The manager that helped him to come to the first, to come to the best moment of his career is a manager that do not forget he likes a lot and that maybe one day he would be reunited again so for me the perfect words that show Luke Shaw character in relation to the people that he happy with.
