Joe Gomez sat out of Friday’s outdoor session in Austria but he continued his work indoors and was absent merely as a precaution.
The English defender tore his patellar tendon while on international duty with England in November last year and hasn’t played a minute for Liverpool since.
He underwent corrective surgery and earned himself some nasty scars in the process but is not likely to be fully fit for the start of the season.

This isn’t news to the Liverpool medical staff as Ibou Konate was brought in with the expectation that he would partner Virgil van Dijk at the heart of the defence for the start of the season.
As was expected, however, he is battling with swelling around the knee that sustained the damaged and the decision was taken on Friday for him to miss the outdoor session.
Inflammation is the body’s way of dealing with stress whether it’s an infection or ligament and muscles tears
While there are no tears or damage to the tendon at the moment, Gomez is still working with the club’s physios to build up the strength and stamina in his tendon to the level it was at before.
The reason he has having a tougher go of things when compared to Virgil van Dijk, who suffered an ACL tear in October, has to do with the difference in the knee injuries.
As Dr. Rajpal Brar explained to Anfield Central at the start of May: “The patellar tendon is an active mover and takes on significantly more load than the ACL (which is a “passive constraint”, it’s not contracting rather just passively stretching to control knee joint stability)
“It’s a really strong tendon that’s important to basic knee movements so that’s why it’s a tough injury to deal with.”
Fortunately, Liverpool seem to have been expecting this and he has been having scheduled checks every morning before training to ensure he is ready to take part in the day’s sessions.

WIJNALDUM ON LIVERPOOL EXIT: I DIDN'T ALWAYS FEEL LOVED

Georginio Wijnaldum has spoken out over his Liverpool exit and revealed he 'didn't feel love' from a section of the fan-base during his final two seasons.

“Every day in training and in the game I gave everything," the midfielder told The Times' Henry Winter. "Liverpool meant so much to me. There was some moment when I didn’t feel love and appreciated there.

“Not by my teammates, not the people at Melwood. I know they all loved me and I loved them. It was not from that side, more from the other side.

“There was a moment when I didn’t feel loved. In the last two seasons, I had it a few times.

"The media didn’t help. There was a story like I didn’t accept the [Liverpool] offer because I wanted more money, and the fans made it like ‘OK, he didn’t get the offer so he doesn’t try his best to win games.’ Everything looked like it was against me. Some moments it was like, ‘Wow, me again?’

“The fans in the stadium and the fans in social media were two different things. In the stadium, I can say nothing bad about them. They always supported me.

“On social media if we lost I was the one who got the blame — [claiming] that I wanted to leave. There was a moment when I was like, ‘Wow, if they only knew what I was doing to stay fit and play every game.’

"My team-mates never had the feeling that I let them down. For the manager, I was someone he was really sure he could trust. It also helped because I could play in different positions and do it well in different positions. I’d give everything."
