Liverpool first half ratings
Simon Mignolet 6
Grabbed Darida’s snap shot easily. Looked to have a more dangerous effort covered when Matip’s heel turned it away.
Joe Gomez 7
Again started at right-back and tried to link up with Mane and Lallana going forward. Saw lots of the ball and is offering Klopp options across the back line.
Alberto Moreno 5
Too easy for Weiser to cut inside him for game’s first chance and was beaten all ends up by the same player in a later move. Made one lovely run to collect Can’s pass and put across a dangerous centre and was entitled to think somebody might have got on the end of it. Booked for a poor shoulder barge on Leckie.
Joel Matip 5
Still looks to sometimes get under long balls, so positioning can improve. Good block of goal-bound shot with his heel. Ibesevic almost caught him out on a ball which he took too much time with but penalty claim rightly turned down. Not quite up to speed yet.
Ragnar Klavan 5
A Bundesliga opponent is a familar thing to the former Augsberg man. Fell over when Weiser threatened and was lucky it didn’t lead to a goal.
Gini Wijnaldum 7
A goal. Away from Anfield! Does it count? No great power in his low effort form the edge of the box but perfectly placed away from the keeper. Had kept everything very simple to that point, in that good Wijnaldum way.
Emre Can 6
First appearance of pre-season. Acted as midfield holder but moved forward to slide in nice ball for Moreno. One galloping drive forward could be filed under ‘classic Can’.
Adam Lallana 7
Spotted Solanke’s movement well for the cross for the goal. Put in his normal shift, linking the play going forward and working back well.
Sadio Mane 7
Great to see him back in a red shirt. Popped up everywhere although his touch wasn’t its normal high quality. Mis-hit from Lallana’s pass and volleyed over with his left foot after forcing mistake from Hertha defenders. Might have had a penalty from a clumsy challenge on his heel and gets an asisst for Wijnaldum’s goal.
Dominic Solanke 7
Late change as Divock Origi picked up injury in warm up. Scored within 15 minutes with looping header, the best part of which was his movement and position, as keeper should do better. His first thought is usually to be direct which is not a bad thing and often found in good areas.
Philippe Coutinho 6
Captain’s armband was a strong message of his significance from Klopp. Some little cameos had the crowd purring but overall not as influnetial as other pre-seaosn games and got some fairly rough treatment from Hertha defenders.
