MANGALA TO BE EL OF A BUY

JOSE MOURINHO wants Porto centre-half Eliaquim Mangala as his first Chelsea buy — but not at the £30million asking price.

The Special One targeted the 22-year-old after signing a four-year contract on Tuesday to become Chelsea boss.

And he reckons he can land the French ace despite the player’s concerns about regular football.

But Chelsea will not match the £30m buy-out clause in his contract and know from experience that the Portuguese champions drive a hard bargain.

Asked about the Blues’ interest, Mangala said yesterday: “It’s flattering because Chelsea are a great club and Mourinho is a great coach.

“I intended to stay in Porto but you never know what will happen in football, especially when big clubs are involved.

“At Porto I play every week and I am involved in the title fight and the Champions League. And that is important to me.”

SunSport revealed last Saturday that Mourinho was desperate for Luka Modric to join him again.

Real Madrid paid Spurs £30m for the Croatian last year and a similar offer could see the 27-year-old back in England.

Mourinho sees Mangala and Modric as key to his summer squad rebuilding.

Mangala cost Porto just £5.5m from Standard Liege two years ago.

News of Mourinho’s interest in Mangala confirms suggestions that the new Blues boss is not convinced by David Luiz as a central defender.

The Brazilian is a £35m target for Barcelona. And Mourinho may cash in to help fund his overhaul.

SUAREZ IN QUIT THREAT

LUIS SUAREZ has threatened to quit Liverpool — because he feels PERSECUTED.
In the last two years, the controversial striker has been found guility of RACISM and BITING while openly admitting to DIVING.

But he claims he is ready to walk out on the Anfield club who have loyally stood by him throughout his troubles.

Liverpool say they are oblivious to Suarez's feelings and that neither he nor his agent have contacted them about his future.

Real Madrid have been linked with a £40million move for Suarez with Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich also believed to be interested.

However, the Uruguay ace, 26, insists his decision is not about making more cash.
Speaking at a Press conference in his home country, Suarez said: “My reason for leaving is not for the money. If it was the money I would have left already.

“My main reason is my family and my image — that is my priority now. It is a difficult moment for me.

“My coach and my colleagues know that they didn’t treat me well here.
“I don’t feel comfortable here anymore — they know it, so I think it is understandable that I leave.

“Firstly being persecuted by the paparazzi all the time. I couldn’t go to my garden or the supermarket, I couldn’t do anything.

“I know it’s normal being followed by the press but it was too much.

“All silly things that they said about me — all the pictures, all the taunts.

“They happened every day and nobody supported me.

“They talk about me being named as the best player in England but I knew it wasn’t going to happen.

“I knew because of the way they treated me. The straw that broke the camel’s back was my mistake, I accept it, my fault, but they went too far.”

Suarez was banned for eight matches in 2011 after he was found guilty of racist abuse against Manchester United’s Patrice Evra.

And he was hit with a 10-match suspension in April for biting Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic. He has served four matches of the ban so far.

It was the second time in his career that he was found guilty of biting an opponent after a similar incident during his time at Ajax.

Crucially, despite saying he wants to leave the Reds, Suarez says no transfer is in the pipeline yet.

He said: “I don’t have any offer yet. I don’t know when I will leave or even if I will finally leave, or if I will stay.

“The club knows what I think and what I want. I don’t know what will happen but I’ve got a contract.

“If I stay I will do my best here but I don’t know if that will happen because of all the bullying of the press against me and the team is very aware of everything.”
Suarez added: “England and Spain are the best leagues in the world.

“It is normal that it is impossible to say no to big teams for which one always dreams.

“Yet I have nothing, I have not spoken with Real Madrid nor with Liverpool.

“My agent has not told me anything either and that leaves me alone.”

Liverpool today responded to Suarez comments by releasing a statement.

The Merseyside club said: "Luis Suarez is not for sale. Neither Luis nor his representatives have communicated these feelings directly to Liverpool Football Club.

"The club remain supportive of Luis and expect him to honour his contract."
