Football Transfer Centre 2013: Transfer News and Rumours

Expect some twists in this transfer because Tottenham have just received a separate offer in addition to Real Madrid's bid for Bale, say sources at the north London club.

Spurs say no agreement has been reached with Real to sell Bale.

The second bidder's identity is not known but Manchester United have been linked with the forward this summer.

Meanwhile, Spurs have approached Chelsea about buying a player to replace Bale, possibly Juan Mata.

From Marouane Fellaini to Mesut Ozil – the story of transfer deadline day

Drama: Fans up and down the country were to see new signings (Picture: Getty) It promised to be one of the most dramatic transfer deadline days in recent history, and it didn’t disappoint.
With several big name players and clubs involved in huge deals, many of which went to the deadline, football fans up and down the country were left gripped. Here’s how it all unfolded.
The day began with Stoke completing the signing of Marko Arnautovic before the crack of dawn, bringing in the Werder Bremen man after a lengthy chase.
Then, whilst most were still tucking into their breakfasts, Liverpool completed a quick-fire hat-trick by confirming the arrivals of Tiago Illori, Mamadou Sakho and Victor Moses.

Victor Moses said he was excited about joining Liverpool (Picture: Twitter) The transfer cogs were now well and truly in motion, with plenty of deals starting to emerge. Arsenal were in for Mesut Ozil, and Manchester United made an approach for Ander Herrera.
While all that was going on, Stoke agreed to sign Stephen Ireland on a season-long loan from Aston Villa, while Villa did some business of their own, landing Libor Kozak from Lazio.
Arsenal then announced the signing of Emiliano Viviano on-loan from Palermo, before the Baggies bagged Stephane Sessegnon from Sunderland in a club-record deal.
Crystal Palace, who promised they would be busy, landed Adrian Mariappa, Barry Bannan and Jack Hunt, but couldn’t sign Nicklas Bendtner, with Arsenal refusing to let him go after they missed out on Chelsea’s Demba Ba.
Palace also failed to re-sign Andy Johnson from QPR, while QPR added two Tottenham players on-loan, in the shape of Benoit Assou-Ekotto and Tom Carroll.

Big money: Aston Villa splashed the cash on Kozak (Picture: Getty) Sunderland followed up that sale by signing Fabio Borini from Liverpool, and the ex-Reds full-back Andrea Dossena.
Remember United’s deal for Herrera? Well that collapsed shortly after, amid row over fee payments, but Swansea did have success in Spain, landing Vasquez on-loan.
Then, with time ticking, Arsenal announced they had blown their transfer record to sign Mesut Ozil, but United were back doing business of their own.
Marouane Fellaini slapped in a transfer request, and United moved in to agree a £28million deal. Everton agreed to sign Romelu Lukaku, Gareth Barry and James McCarthy as replacements, but all of those deals went past the deadline, meaning last-minute confirmation was needed
