Let me leave Liverpool, pleads Suarez

Liverpool striker Luis Suarez has confirmed he wants to leave the club in interviews with two British newspapers.

The Uruguay international, 26, intends to submit a transfer request by the end of the week if a move is blocked.

Suarez has told both the Guardian and the Telegraph that the Reds "promised" he could leave this summer if they did not qualify for the Champions League.

"I gave absolutely everything last season, now all I want is for Liverpool to honour our agreement," he said.
"Last year I had the opportunity to move to a big European club and I stayed on the understanding that if we failed to qualify for the Champions League the following season I'd be allowed to go."

Arsenal have made two bids, with the latest a pound more than £40m, in an attempt to trigger a release clause.
Liverpool, who finished seventh in the Premier League last season, have rejected the offers and insisted the clause does not force them to sell.
Suarez has not travelled with the squad for a pre-season match in Norway because of a foot injury.
"I am 26, I need to be playing in the Champions League. I feel I have done enough to be playing in the Champions League at this stage of my career. Now there is an option for me to do that and I want very much to take it," he said.

"I don't feel betrayed but the club promised me something a year ago just as I promised them that I would stay and try everything possible to get us into the Champions League."
Suarez did not travel with Liverpool, who meet Valerenga on Wednesday in their penultimate friendly before the start of the season.

He is due to have a scan on his foot injury in the next 24 hours, joining Daniel Agger, Glen Johnson and Martin Skrtel in staying in England to receive treatment.

Reds boss Brendan Rodgers has insisted Arsenal's offer remains well short of Liverpool's valuation.
"If Arsenal want the player they have to produce the value for the player," Rodgers said last month.

Suarez, who joined the club in January 2011 from Ajax for £22.7m and signed a long-term contract extension in August 2012, scored 30 goals in 44 appearances for the Reds last season.

Liverpool conclude their pre-season preparations with a friendly against Celtic in Dublin on Saturday before starting their Premier League campaign a week later against Stoke City at Anfield.

The Blues are set to reject the offer for the Brazilian centre back, thought to be worth around £35million

Gervinho has completed his move to Italian side AS Roma for a reported fee of £8million after two years at the club, Arsenal have confirmed.
Gervinho, who was sent off on his Premier League debut, has been linked with a move away from the Emirates all summer – having made just 26 appearances in all competitions for Arsene Wenger’s side last term.
The 26-year-old moves to Roma just two weeks ahead of the start of the new Serie A season – and it appears the Gunners have lost money on the player, having purchased him from Lille for a rumoured £10.5m.

Everton have described Manchester United's £28m latest joint bid for Marouane Fellaini and Leighton Baines as "derisory and insulting".

Former Toffees boss David Moyes offered £16m for Fellaini, whose £23.5m release clause expired at the end of July.

United had a £12m bid for left-back Baines knocked back in June but have come back with the same offer.

I love the negotiation tactics. 12m for Baines? .... No. How about 12m for Baines then? At the end of the day you get paid for such negotiation tactics.

Kama sijakosea Moyes alimnunua Fellaini £15m in 2008.

Chairman Bill Kenwright has warned David Moyes off returning to Goodison Park to try to sign his former players. Moyes left Everton after 11 years in charge at the end of last season to replace Sir Alex Ferguson as United’s manager.

And after appointing Martinez in early June -- before Fellaini’s escape clause expired -- Kenwright said: “I’ve not said to David [Moyes]: ‘David, come on.’ I’ve said exactly the opposite. I’ve said to David: ‘We all know the situation at Everton. We all know there’s a player who’s got an escape clause, but the others are not for sale.’

“I’m as in love with this football squad as any Evertonian out there. They are this club and we don’t want them to go.”

Arsenal bid for Yohan Cabaye rejected
August 19, 2013

Newcastle United have rejected a bid from Arsenal in the region of £10 million for France international Yohan Cabaye, a source close to the Magpies has informed ESPN FC.

Cabaye, a £4.3 million signing from Lille in 2011, excelled during his debut campaign in England but struggled with injury last season. Nonetheless, he has been linked with a host of top clubs this summer.

The 27-year-old said last month he would be keen to join Manchester United if an offer materialised, while Paris Saint-Germain coach Laurent Blanc, though playing down talk of an imminent move, has confirmed his admiration for the midfielder. Tottenham and Monaco have also been credited with an interest.

However, it appears Arsenal are the first club to register an official bid, but ESPN FC has been told Newcastle consider their offer to be “derisory”.

Newcastle manager Alan Pardew said last week that the club had every intention of retaining the player.

“He is certainly not too good for us,” he said in the Daily Star. "Cabaye’s in a great place right now. You want to keep hold of your best players and he is one of the best in the world, in my opinion. He is a fantastic asset for us, has conducted himself in a very professional manner, despite all the speculation, and I admire him for that.”

Despite his reluctance to sell, Pardew accepts that -- having accepted a £35 million bid from Liverpool for Andy Carroll on the final day of the January window in 2011 -- there is the possibility of a sale.

“You are talking to a manager who has the history of Andy Carroll behind him, so you can never say never,” he said. “We are vulnerable to bigger clubs if they are really decisive and make a bid that knocks us off our feet. But that is not my decision. As the manager, of course, I want him to stay and have a fantastic season here, as our fans do.”
