Surely Schurrle
deserves Chelsea
chance?

Marco Reus is said to be available
and Chelsea are looking, but
shouldn’t they give the German
forward they already have a
proper chance first?
If recent newspaper reports are
to be believed, then Chelsea could
well have stolen a march on their
rivals to sign Marco Reus by
offering Dortmund Andre
Schurrle in part-exchange.
You’d have to say, that if Reus
was to move to the Premier
League it would be a massive
coup for English football. The
German would be an
outstanding addition for anyone
in the world.
But I surely can’t be the only one
here wondering just what Andre
Schurrle has done wrong?
Yes, I realise that Chelsea is a
tough, perhaps the toughest,
team in the Premier League to
get into. Eden Hazard is, you’d
think, an automatic starter on
one flank leaving Schurrle to fight
it out with Willian for a spot on
the opposite flank.
Even though, with just 323
minutes of Premier League
football under his belt, far less
than his Brazilian rival, you just
can’t help but suspect Schurrle is
getting a bit of a rough time of it.
It isn’t like he isn’t doing
anything, either. He already has a
couple of goals to his name,
plundered at a better rate than
one every two games, and he has
been raining shots on the
opposition goal with a fierce
frequency – one every 20
minutes he spends on the pitch,
to be exact.
You can’t dismiss the merits of
Willian, of course. He’s a hugely
talented player in his own right
with a very prominent upside to
his game. His defensive work
rate is phenomenal, and he is
capable of carrying the ball at
pace getting his team quickly up
the pitch.
I’m just not strictly sure he is
what Chelsea need for the most
part. There will be the odd game
when rigid defensive discipline is
required, but it’s an attacking
breakthrough that they’ll need
more often than not, particularly
at home, as teams look to shut
up shop and frustrate the title
favourites.

That’s where you feel Schurrle
should have a telling edge over
the rest. He is, for my money, one
of the most penetrative players
the Premier League has to offer.
His methods are subtle, but
brilliant.
The former Leverkusen man is a
master of the ‘in-from-out’ run
that has become such a vital
element of the modern game.
With most clubs only using one
striker now, a player who can
start from wide and make his
run on the blind side of a full
back into a central, goalscoring
position is an extremely potent
tool in a side’s attacking
armoury.
It’s especially effective when you
have players like Cesc Fabregas,
Oscar and Eden Hazard to see the
run and pick them out.
If Marco Reus is available, he is
someone who should be on the
radar of every major club with a
hope of attracting him. However,
if Chelsea can’t find a role for a
player of Andre Schurrle’s type,
they may want to reconsider
whether they would be able to
make any more defensive
concessions for Reus should they
get the opportunity.

It will not be easy, but Albion
have played Chelsea in the past
and picked up points. The
league leaders couldn’t beat
West Brom last season, and
should have been on the losing
side at Stamford Bridge, but
were awarded a very
controversial penalty.
With the right mix of self-belief,
organisation and counter-
attack ability, the Baggies have
every chance of returning to
the Black Country with at least a
point.

Hazard 'the best player in the Premier League by a mile', says opposing defender

Last year, the consensus best player in the Premier League was Liverpool forward Luis Suarez, whose contributions to Brendan Rodgers' side look even more important now that he's left Anfield. This year, that honour is up for grabs, and Eden Hazard is as good a shout as any to claim the title. If you're a full back who's come up against him so far this season, chances are that you're in his corner.

Hazard has developed under Jose Mourinho. He's the best player in the Premier League by a mile, I'd say. Mourinho has done that - he's on a player if they don't perform. Hazard is doing it week in, week out. He's a ball carrier, he can take Chelsea from the edge of their box to the opposition area and go past you like a ghost. He can go outside or inside, shoot, or make you foul him.

Granted, Taylor was talking up the Belgian in order to praise international teammate Gareth Bale by comparison (he's fairly good too, I hear), but that's still high praise from an opposition player. Those interested in fantasy football will be disappointed by Hazard's lack of goals, but the work he does in moving defences around and forcing them into unfavourable positions is unparalleled, and his fellow professionals know it.

Eden 'Ghost' Hazard. I kind of like the sound of that.

points clear at the top of the
league, and eight points ahead of
title rivals Manchester City. This is
after an unbelievable start to the
season where they have gone
unbeaten in their first eleven
matches.
However, the Sky Blues' summer
signing believes that Jose
Mourinho's men will go through
tough times before the end, and
that City are perfectly ready to
make use of any stumbles when
they occur.
The Brazilian refuses to panic
despite manager Manuel
Pellegrini coming under pressure
after a stuttering start to the
Premier League, and a dreadful
campaign in the Champions
League.
"Of course Chelsea is the team
that is best placed and playing
better, but we know that all
teams within the league fluctuate
greatly," he began.
"We did not start well, we had
some difficulties, but we know
that at any time Chelsea will also
go through these difficulties and
then we have to work to stay as
close as possible."
The 27-year-old claims that they
still have a chance in both
competitions, but that the poor
European campaign is troubling

"What has hampered the most is
not the Premier League, the
Champions League is where we
are wrong. We still have chances
in all competitions and so we
have to work to go around," he

Matic
Chelsea are reportedly
preparing to offer a new deal
to star midfielder Nemanja
Matic, according to Goal.com.
The 26-year-old was sold to
Benfica in the summer of 2011
as part of a deal for David Luiz.
However, Blues boss Jose
Mourinho decided to resign the
Serbian international last
winter, and has since played a
crucial part in the club's
progress. According to
Goal.com, the West London
outfit are eager to tie down
Matic to an improved contract
as a reward for his excellent
performances this season.
Matic has four years left in his
existing deal at Chelse

Hii mechi ya nusu fainali ya 2009 hata mimi ndio inaoongoza kwa kuniuma. Refa aliibeba Barcelona ambayo iliogopewa dunia nzima wakati huo. Ilikuwa ni aibu ya aina yake kwa wao kubebwa vile. Yule refa Mnorway nasikia aliacha kabisa kuchezesha mpira na huko kwao nusura apigwe na mashabiki wa mpira! Ilikuwa ni bonge la aibu kwa UEFA nzima!
