The Giant Kilimanjaro Hangar Space
The terminal interior does its best to emulate the mood lighting concept. Kilimanjaro International Airport has one of the biggest hangar facility in the history African aviation on its day. Not even a debate. This facility can accommodates Boeing 787 or two ATRs at the same time. However, the nose pocket adjustment gives this facility upper hand to absorb the as large as an A32O.
The hangar facility trigonometred on 85 meters width, 63 meters length, and 33 meters heights. It orchestrated by two electric doors weigh 40 tons each. They are very heavy, for them to move to require 48 kilowatts from motors installed on each door. Nevertheless, thanks to this radian gear technology, which gives the ability to push them even with bare hands. The project started in October 1978 for the architect design and drawing. After two years, in 1980 all initial procedures ended. After that, it was handed-over to a Holland company J.W Rador and B.V Holland where collaboratively they started stated the project. After five years of hardworking (1980-1985), the project ended with the following amenities.
