Arsenal fans have come together to heap praise on Gabriel Martinelli, labelling the youngster as the club’s most impressive summer signing.

The 18-year-old arrived from Ituano in a deal worth £6 million, with the Gunners fending off interest from 20 other sides in the race for the Brazilian’s services.

Since then, Martinelli has received two starts for the Gunners, scoring braces in the wins over Nottingham Forest and Standard Liege.

Freddie Ljungberg didn’t always dream of being a coach. “No it wasn’t my plan,” he has said. “I liked my life!”

Steve Zakuani, who played alongside Ljungberg for Major League Soccer’s Seattle Sounders, agrees. “If someone had said to me in 2009 or 2010, ‘What’s Freddie going to be doing in a few years?’ I wouldn’t have said ‘coach’. I would have said maybe open a restaurant, or continue modelling.”

According to @90min_Football, Arsenal are leading the race to sign Villarreal defender Pau Torres - but will face competition from Man City & Chelsea. Torres has a release clause in his contract of between €50m & €75m, though #Arsenal will be hoping to strike a deal for less.
