African Satellite World and Sat Gear

can any one help with any software to unlock GTV DECODER, i have few of them and cant access any channel
Hi smashjeryus,
To be best of my knowledge proprietary stb's cannot be reverse engineered. I remember though that when GTV went under, DSTV took over their operations-what is not clear is the fate of the former's boxes.
Good luck though in the endeavour; assuming other gurus in the house can offer alternative views.

Out of curiosity, what is the difference between Gotv and D*tv? I have never taken interest since d*stv told me I needed to pay ksh. 1,800 to replace their smart card then I pay for the sub. Then I suffered asas and never looked back.

Basically GoTV was DSTV's(completely satellite) foray into digital terrestrial broadcasting (probably to check on Startimes growth in Kenya), with content simply scaled-down from what DSTV has to offer. The mother company with the controlling shares remains the same-Multichoice. Funny to note that Startimes is walking through this journey in reverse; having started out on a terrestrial platform, they have recently gone satellite (through StarSat).

On a related note, I can't help rubbing my hands in glee as more entrants jam the Kenyan broadcast-space (DSTV, ZUKU, STARSAT and now AZAM). Not to mention Bein hovering in the shadows (according to a post by one forumer here). Looks like we may just have the kind of cut-throat competition that we witnessed with the mobile phone service providers, with the attendant drop in subscription rates (probably followed by a market correction that will see some players throw in the towel a la Yu mobile).

What may not be so exciting is the electronics waste that will soon fill up our junk yards in the form of set-top boxes, keeping in mind the big 3 local content providers are also gearing up to have their own stb's( having requested for a pushing forward of the migration date).

Whatever the case, FTA/ASAS reigns!

ByKibet:
Av noticed the Kenyan Mux on Eutelsat10E freq3729 R10321 5/6is only visible in the Evenings from 7pm cant watch it during the day. Despite using a Eurostar 8ft dish Supermax C band lnb, Echolink 4777hd decoder. Location is Eldama Ravine (Bondeni) Anyone experienced this!

Hi guys.
For starters, your pf dish should be well configured and all bolts fastened. Now try and skew your lnbs properly. Ensure the teflon is intact. Surprisingly, I employed the Zuku Fta Decoder to fine-tune this setup. Incse you have noticed, the SRTs are not to best for fine lnb setting.

TIME: 11:33am. Currently on Eutelsat 10a@10e. KENYAMUX Sig-84% Quality-80%. Dish size-8ft (eutostar). Lnb-Supermax.

Location- KERICHO.
I never lose Kenyamux 24/7. That is to say I get to watch LOCALS whenever I want all day and all night. Infact not one bit do they "scratch". This tp (3729V10321) is not affected even by the heaviest downpour here.
And I've had this setup for a long while now.

Meanwhile, I stay put awaiting +ve results from your ends. Thx

Hi Highland
I visited my 10E setup in Naivasha during the weekend and realized the signal is stable throughout (day & night) and I didn't adjust anything.
The following are the results on SatLink 6912 meter

4039R 2200 is showing 5% and at times upto 21% on SatLink but on the receiver (SRT 4950H) it is at 65%(quality) and very stable, the rest are at 75% (quality) on the receiver.:msela:

For those who are locked to this bird 7e, merry early Christmas. I just blind scanned my Srt 4950H and it brought this goody.

Well in brief, Gotv uses common Tv Aerial while d.stv uses satellite dish. Gotv has channels chosen from d.stv though. D.stv is majorly a S. African based service while GOTV is a company co-owned by d.stv and KBC Kenya.

Multichoice kenyan operations are about 40% owned by KBC (unless the situation has changed recently). Anyone recall KBC channel 2 back in the day? This means for every 10 bob paid to dstv, 4 bob goes to kbc. Kinda explains why those subscription charges will never come down.

Why then at the expiry of your bouquet would they disconnect all the channels, including KBC? There is a time I had a huge argument with them concerning scrambling the FTA channels. I even referred the matter to CCK (now CA) and they were not of help.

from the info i know gotv is operating on kbc frequency hence had a smooth ride launching in kenya.

Wazi permie for your promising outcome. As always, with satellite reception physical location matters alot.

Next?

Please Help!!! I need a procedure on how to add satellite list on zuku decoder!

Hi Hassan,
It is not possible to list satellites on your Zuku stb. However, Zuku fta decoder can pick any satellite transponder even though the default name remains as Ses 5. It comes with a dedicated blindscan feature.

Hold it, what's this goody goody? My fon cannot "read" this snap-shot and my computer is currently out of easy reach.
Highlands, they have introduced a Christmas dedicated channel (albeit on testing basis) on tp 10804 V sr 29900 on Eutelsat 7A. Currently it's only showing a bonfire (I am not sure if it's in preparation of a chama choma explosion :becky🙂. My son thought I wanted to burn the house!

Well if you think about the kind of investment done by companies you will understand why giving out any channels freely is bad for business.
As much as we want free things it costs us money and time just to get them for a given duration just for the channels do get encrypted or move and you have to invest more money and time to get them back. But the joy is in the hunting them all over again.

Hevie, was say, leaving KBC on asking too much? Not that I would watch it, but there I am, a customer in good books and that one month the images are removed. Isn't marketing one of the best tools in business? Remember I have also invested heavily in the equipment. Anyway, as someone else here is wont to say, viva FTA.
