African Satellite World and Sat Gear

If its for an offset dish then bad luck its usually sold together with
the dish as a whole. If its for adding other LNBs to an already existing setup then you will have to be innovative and craft one like some of the members.

al try and make one but ni vile hapa kenya hazijafika or they dont find any need to import otherwise i saw some over the net which can hold upto 4 lnbs

Guest channel hosting Nat Geo Gold this month had a good Documentary regarding 1998 Nairobi bombing. wish I recorded it ..

Is it just me or is the famous banner on Mbc Channels becoming higher? I mean its now almost covering half the screen!

it is higher as far as i am concerned. it is really annoying.:frusty: where can we sign a petition to get them to stuff it elsewhere (preferably a warm and very dark place on themselves)?

same case here. what is that message.....does the diminishing screen have a hidden meaning of something to disappear/relocate? Top movies is gone....

remember another thing. the holders you saw for sale on-line are mainly designed to sit horizontally on the dish arm. our application mainly asks for them to be stacked one on top of the other etc, as you can see from the contraptions our friends on the forum come up with. look closely.

Was able to track Yahsat 1a over the weekend getting 68% on Fox movies and FOX series. Dubai One HD and RT HD 64%. Dish 90cm with starlife single lnb. Tracking TP 12168 H 27500 hosting fox movies.

Location is western Kenya. This sat was quite hard to grasp at first but i realized you need to tilt your azimuth a little bit to the right even if you are on NSS12 as you move up a little bit up. ( up or down depends on where you are in terms of the equator).

You can plug your SRT 4922 to internet then go to

System Settings..........
Database reset ..........input password 0000
Press lyngsat update and it will update your satellite list plus transponders.

Happy hunting

Thanks CHIEF SOITA, I was previously sharing a neighbor's connection through LNB OUT before I shifted from that estate but will try my best over Easter to see whether I will nab anything.

And on matters concerning connecting the STB to the internet, how will I set it up on connecting the R232 or there's a way I can download the satellite list, save it on a memory stick and upload it?

Thanks again....

2 track yahsat-1a@ 52.5e first track k24 on nss 12@ 57e 11544 v 3300 or 11007 v 4883 get a maxmum signal on ds tp then as u stand behind ur dish input 12168 v 27500 yahsat tp then move ur dish a little up then 2 ur left .

Thanks bat, it's gonna be quite a challenge since practically this will be my first setup for I previously had been sharing signal with a neighbor.

God bless.

Have your jua kali guy fabricate something close to this. To change satellite of focus, loosen bolts and slide LNB. The paraphernalia.JPG LNB attached.JPG

Dear ASAS gurus, can Badr 4 be nabbed in Dar Es Salaam? What size of dish can I use to get it? Thanks for your help.

Here in Kampala our very own Musa (musajja wa Kabaka) stocks all manner of LNB holders at 15K (UGX).
He also has SRT 4922 and SRT 4950 receivers plus a host of other cheaper brands (all HD).
He has now started stoking ECOLINK HD Terrerstrial receivers (150K) and I was pleasantly surprised to see that
you can actually get a good number of local FTA terrestrial digital channels.
Other satellite items available include the famous INVERTO twin LNB at 60K, SAMSON, Stargold Fuji, Santech LNBs.
He also stocks many spare remote control units for maily SRT HD series plus the old SRT 4669 series and its SD cousins. Other remotes for most Chinese satellite receivers are also available plus a number of ordinary and sophisticated "Master" remotes. There is one that I tested that can be programmed to work on LCD/LED TVs, DVD/ Blu-ray players, and sat receivers all at the same time. Prices range between 15K to 20K depending on whether it is for HD or SD receivers. Even remotes for the old SRT 4900/4910 are available. All sizes of dishes from 90cm to 130cm offset plus 180cm to 240cm PF are also available.
Musa's success is mainly due to his very good (and I mean really very good) customer service. I like the way he does his traditional Kiganda hospitality greetings. Ask Ndugu LAGAT who has been here, he knows that these greetings can
sometimes be very personal. Our Musa makes an effort to know all his customers by name, even those from western Kenya, northern Tanzania, Rwanda, Congo and South Sudan.
Unlike his counterparts in the so called upmarket central Kampala, Musa is very polite and willing to go the extra mile to serve his customers no matter how pompous and arrogant some customers behave. I once asked him why he takes so much abuse from some badly behaved installers, and he told me that as long as they have money they are wiiling to spend in his shop, then they will be treated like kings. Owners of satellite equipment shops in Central Kampala are so arrogant that they make you think they are doing you a favour by selling you their mostly lousy factory rejects from China. I once asked shop attendants at SPEEDO (on Market Street) whether they had some (STRONG) HD recevers in stock and I was told that we cannot afford them and were (SRT receivers) meant for rich Arabs in the ME. I was even told to order in advance with a cash deposit.
Our Musa always asks us before going to Dubai for what we wish him to bring because he knows that quality really sells.
His shop is at former Kalitusi parkyard currently known as USAFI market facing the statues at the roundabout.

Ok, thanks.
I will look for those lnbs, given that they are not so common down here.

From my experience you need XTRAWIEW but its very expensive

extratraview actually costs $10 more a month.( thats about Ksh860) .All he would need to do is purchase another decoder. connect the primary and secondary decoders via the RF ports, set extraview settings, then voila!

thanks alot mr techdee i will look for one of these lnbs and hook it,meanwhile i was trying to shop around for those plastic ku lnb brackets, any idea where i can get them i want to add one more lnb and see how my srt 4950h will behave

You can get those extra plastic ku lnb brackets at Riwara Shop and others too. Costs around Sh.250.

Mini USB 150Mbps 802.11n/g/b wifi Adapter Comfast WU720N-in Network Cards from Electronics on Aliexpress.com
It's working well with my Strong 4950H as well as 4922A. Well, now that i have internet connectivity in my 4950H, i have taken 4922 to storage. I prefer the interface of 4950 and the ability to sort channels in an easy way.
