Here in Kampala our very own Musa (musajja wa Kabaka) stocks all manner of LNB holders at 15K (UGX).
He also has SRT 4922 and SRT 4950 receivers plus a host of other cheaper brands (all HD).
He has now started stoking ECOLINK HD Terrerstrial receivers (150K) and I was pleasantly surprised to see that
you can actually get a good number of local FTA terrestrial digital channels.
Other satellite items available include the famous INVERTO twin LNB at 60K, SAMSON, Stargold Fuji, Santech LNBs.
He also stocks many spare remote control units for maily SRT HD series plus the old SRT 4669 series and its SD cousins. Other remotes for most Chinese satellite receivers are also available plus a number of ordinary and sophisticated "Master" remotes. There is one that I tested that can be programmed to work on LCD/LED TVs, DVD/ Blu-ray players, and sat receivers all at the same time. Prices range between 15K to 20K depending on whether it is for HD or SD receivers. Even remotes for the old SRT 4900/4910 are available. All sizes of dishes from 90cm to 130cm offset plus 180cm to 240cm PF are also available.
Musa's success is mainly due to his very good (and I mean really very good) customer service. I like the way he does his traditional Kiganda hospitality greetings. Ask Ndugu LAGAT who has been here, he knows that these greetings can
sometimes be very personal. Our Musa makes an effort to know all his customers by name, even those from western Kenya, northern Tanzania, Rwanda, Congo and South Sudan.
Unlike his counterparts in the so called upmarket central Kampala, Musa is very polite and willing to go the extra mile to serve his customers no matter how pompous and arrogant some customers behave. I once asked him why he takes so much abuse from some badly behaved installers, and he told me that as long as they have money they are wiiling to spend in his shop, then they will be treated like kings. Owners of satellite equipment shops in Central Kampala are so arrogant that they make you think they are doing you a favour by selling you their mostly lousy factory rejects from China. I once asked shop attendants at SPEEDO (on Market Street) whether they had some (STRONG) HD recevers in stock and I was told that we cannot afford them and were (SRT receivers) meant for rich Arabs in the ME. I was even told to order in advance with a cash deposit.
Our Musa always asks us before going to Dubai for what we wish him to bring because he knows that quality really sells.
His shop is at former Kalitusi parkyard currently known as USAFI market facing the statues at the roundabout.
