... my friend, time comes we have to learn to live with our enemies. Offcourse to some it is a mammoth task. I agree it's hard but we have to try, otherwise we will end up hating even those in our closest proximities. We have seen a lot around the world where hate disguised in prosperity is allowed to fester, for instance, the class issue in India can hardly be bridged if the majority live in forever hatreds.

The pastor who officiated Jenna Bush's wedding in May recently criticized John McCain for his comments at a biker rally earlier this month. ABC has the story.

"Well, I don't know a lot about John McCain's family history, I do know, however, that as recently as last week I think it was, the Senator made a comment in South Dakota regarding his wife entering some Buffalo Chips contest which is this topless deal and if she were to enter she would probably win it and my personal opinion and based on my understanding of the Christian faith, that's not not, N-O-T, not the type of expression that a presidential candidate, or anyone for that matter who is a follower of the Christian faith, ought to make," said the Rev. Kirbyjon Caldwell. "I don't know if that is a perfect case in point, but it surely does help to juxtapose the DNA of Senator Obama, if you would, versus the DNA of Senator McCain."

Caldwell, a close personal friend of President Bush, is the senior pastor at Windsor Village United Methodist Church in Houston, Texas.

John McCain's campaign is denying Democratic charges the presumptive Republican nominee flippantly dismissed a new book attacking Barack Obama that includes several documented falsehoods.

Asked by the Associated Press earlier Friday what he though of author Jerome Corsi's new book, "The Obama Nation," McCain said, "gotta keep your sense of humor."Those comments were immediately slammed by the Obama campaign and the Democratic National Committee, which e-mailed its 3.4 million supporters declaring, "John McCain thinks smears and lies are funny."

"Despite pledging to run a respectful campaign, McCain is just standing by while Corsi and his publisher, former Dick Cheney aide Mary Matalin, poison this presidential race," read the e-mail from DNC Rapid Response Team.

But McCain spokeswoman Brooke Buchanan said later Thursday the Arizona senator actually did not hear the question, and would not be commenting on the book.

The book, which is expected to debut No. 1 on the New York Times bestseller list, repeats many long-discredited falsehoods about the Illinois senator, including the claim that he is Muslim.

In Mrs. Clinton's non-concession speech, when she first said she was "committed to uniting our party", she famously asked: "What does Hillary want?" The answer is self-evident. She wants to be president. And what is now her most plausible path to the White House? A McCain victory in 2008.

I wouldn't really call that "teaming up", it's more like they are competing against one another. Either way I am not sure if Shilpa ever held a grudge against Ms. Goody. Anyways since you came to this thread about Obama let me ask you if you support him and why? What do you think about his policies of income redistribution from Whites?

I was being sarcastic about the photo. I do believe though that Obama is just keeping Rev. Wright away for now until he gets elected president (if that happens). As soon as he wins the election Rev. Wright will be brought back as his "spiritual advisor". I don't believe for a second that Obama does not believe or agree with Rev. Wright hateful ideas. He sat in his church for all those years and the two were close. Obama just like Rev. Wright hates Whites which explains why he is hell bent on redistributing their wealth.

I think that McCain was on friendly territory lazima watampenda - the evangelicals and conservatice Christians, ulitegemea nini? Lakini cheki sasa Obama alisema he is pro-choice na alieleza kwa nini na walimpigia makofi. Also let me remind you this was a forum not a debate. Here Obama was talking not only to people present but also viewers and he was not put side by side kubishana na babu yako.
I think that Obama walked into the lion's den and he walked out without a scrape. In fact I am convinced that he won over viewers who are Christians and moderate. Lakini Babu yako was addressing his base speaking in absolute! He didn't win over anyone new!

Steven Waldman notes that McCain's recounting of this story has changed over the years and "has gradually morphed from being about the humanity of the guard to being about the Christian faith of the guard and John McCain."

Andrew Sullivan says that McCain's early accounts of his years as a POW do not even include this story.
