The Japanese Earthquake and its Aftermath....

There is no way nchi kama Japan ituzidi kiuchumi. NO WAY AT ALL. Huwezi kufananisha natural resources zetu na zao. Tatizo sisi tumejaza ujinga tu!

OMA, Japan – Radiation leaked from a crippled nuclear plant in tsunami-ravaged northeastern Japan after a third reactor was rocked by an explosion Tuesday and a fourth caught fire in a dramatic escalation of the 4-day-old catastrophe. The government warned anyone nearby to stay indoors to avoid exposure.
Tokyo also reported slightly elevated radiation levels but officials said the increase was too small to threaten anyone in the capital.
In a nationally televised statement, Prime Minister Naoto Kan said radiation has spread from four reactors of the Fukushima Dai-ichi nuclear plant in Fukushima province, one of the hardest-hit in Friday's 9.0-magnitude earthquake and the ensuing tsunami that has killed more than 10,000 people.
"The level seems very high, and there is still a very high risk of more radiation coming out," Kan said. "We are making utmost efforts to prevent further explosions and radiation leaks."
This is the worst nuclear crisis Japan has faced since the atomic bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki during World War II. It is also the first time that such a grave nuclear threat has been raised in the world since a nuclear power plant in Chernobyl, Ukraine exploded in 1986.
Kan warned there are dangers of more leaks and told people living within 19 miles (30 kilometers) of the Fukushima Dai-ichi complex to stay indoors to avoid radiation sickness. Some 70,000 people had already been evacuated from a 12-mile (20-kilometer) radius and 140,000 remain in the zone for which the new warning was issued.
Three reactors at the power plant were in critical condition after Friday's quake, losing their ability to cool down and releasing some radiation. A fourth reactor that was unoperational caught fire on Tuesday and more radiation was released, Chief Cabinet Secretary Yukio Edano said.
The fire was put out. Even though it was unoperational, the fourth reactor was believed to be the source of the elevated radiation release because of the hydrogen release that triggered the fire.
"It is likely that the level of radiation increased sharply due to a fire at Unit 4," Edano said. "Now we are talking about levels that can damage human health. These are readings taken near the area where we believe the releases are happening. Far away, the levels should be lower," he said.
"Please do not go outside. Please stay indoors. Please close windows and make your homes airtight. Don't turn on ventilators. Please hang your laundry indoors," he said.

RESCUERS in Japan today pulled two survivors, a woman and a man, from underneath the rubble four days after a powerful earthquake and devastating tsunami, public broadcaster NHK reported.
A 70-year-old woman was found alive in the quake-hit town of Otsuchi in Iwate prefecture, NHK said. She was suffering from hypothermia but was not in a life-threatening condition, it said, adding that she had been taken to hospital.
A man, whose age was not given, was rescued in the town of Ishimaki in hard-hit Miyagi prefecture, the network said.
Yesterday, emergency personnel found 2000 bodies in Miyagi, local media reported, citing officials.

JAPAN today said there was no reason to close the Tokyo stock market despite two days of heavy losses, with panicking investors dumping shares as a nuclear crisis escalated.
Tokyo stocks suffered their biggest one-day fall since the 2008 Lehman shock today, with the main Nikkei index ending 10.55 per cent lower, after losing as much as 14 per cent at one point.
The losses came after the government warned radiation levels had risen to dangerous levels at the Fukushima Number One nuclear plant, northeast of the capital, following a series of explosions and a fire.
However, economy Minister Kaoru Yosano said the stock market "has experienced a similar pace of falls about four or five times amid the Lehman shock".
He added: "I expect the market to regain its stability. I don't have any concerns for the future."
He also said that the market should open on Wednesday as usual. "It is natural to open the market at any time. There is no request or reason to close the market," he said.
Yosano suggested that the government has an option to purchase stocks to underpin share prices that have nosedived since the biggest earthquake to ever hit the country unleashed a devastating tsunami Friday.
"It might be a little bit early to mention, but (the government) has such a measure," Yosano told reporters, Kyodo News reported.
Economists say it is still too early to assess the cost of the destruction from the record 9.0-magnitude quake and the 10-metre wall of water that laid waste to swathes of the northeastern coast and triggered an atomic emergency.
The quake and tsunami have damaged or closed down ports, although airports such as Tokyo's Narita have reopened.
Transport infrastructure such as train lines and roads have been crippled along parts of the northeast.
Japan derives a around a third of its energy from nuclear plants. Power shortages have enforced rolling blackouts.

What better way to showcase the needs of Japan's rapidly aging population than an adult diaper fashion show?

-By now nadhani wote tumeishasahau majanga yaliyotokea Haiti na New Zealand baada ya kushuhudia yaliyotokea Japan. I mean.... its beyond our imagination kwa kweli. Ebu fikiria mwenyewe, enh! songombingo limeanza na earthquake, ikafuatiwa na Tsunami, aftreshocks, Fires, na sasa Nuclear eruptions, whoah! Si mchezo.

Hi nchi sasa imefikia njiapanda kwa kweli. Fikiria mwenyewe, Japan ina watu milioni 127. Lakini one fifth of its popn. is over 65 yrs old! Birth rate is 1.3 per woman, below replacement rate (The popn. over 65 will jump sharply btn 2012-2014, when baby-bomeers born btn 1947-1949 will turn 65)

Mbaya zaidi ni kwamba, in Japan there is a steady breakdown of the extended family, kwa hiyo mtu akifikisha miaka 81 (Japan life expectacy) ni jukumu la social Security na serikali kumhudumia.

Japan is one of the World's most homogenous country in the World due to Isolationism and anti-Immigration policies. Yaani hawa jamaa hawataki wageni hata kidogo, and they are proud of it.

Japan inatajwa kwamba ni nchi pekee iliyoendelea pasipo kutegemea foreign workers to meet labour shortages. Lakini swali ni je, wataendelea hivi mpaka lini? Juzi tumemsikia waziri mkuu wao Naoto Kan akisema kwamba Japan is facing its biggest crisis since the WW II. Kama ni kweli, basi nadhani Reconstruction ya uchumi wa nchi hii (the third largest in the World) italeta mabadiliko makubwa sana as far as foreign workers na Immigration is concerned.

Hakuna kulalamika, hakuna kuvunja sheria, hakuna vibaka.
