It depends with your conception of power. The classical definition of power in political science is - the ability of A to get B do what B wouldn't otherwise done. Power may be exercised through an act of violence , withholding rights/opportunities, threat etc. This is the most mechanical way of exercising power. The most sophisticated way of exercising power is perception - the perception B has over A-therefore making B to submit to B ( the case of Africans to Wazungu). There is a form of power called latent power applied so latently- in this case the power of the religious leaders through their institutions. Because of their integrity, consciousness, God fearing tendencies and the services they offer to the society. The guys you have mentioned above like Jeetu et al they occupy high social class but not necessary social status. Social status is drawn and judged from your humbleness and integrity. It is the latent form of power that moves mountains. You can definitely buy a social class but not social status. You engange yourself in corruption, drugs business and buy a social class easily by shifting your residence to Masaki but yet you can not buy social status because you are accorded that by the faithfuls in the sociaty.
