Tanzania to go Wireless

Kakindomaster,
Mwendo mdundo, Kibongo bongo tutafika!

Mkandara,

wana mawazo ya leo na kesho, they are not thinking big.

mfano ukiwa US ukitaka kupiga simu Tanzania is more expensive than Kenya,Uganda na nchi nyingi tuu za EA,you know why? ukijua utakasirika sana ....go figure!

Kilitime,

Una maana pale kwa Eng. Kowelo?

Koba, you totally miss the point. Sio Koba atakayeamua sifa apewe nani.

in ICT;

This is called last mile solutions, meaning a link to the end user; Tanzania has never have this problem so far; there are several solutions and several last mile service providers so we have plent alternatives;

Our Main challenge has been the Backbone, while Kenya have connected allmost all towns with high speed media [Fibre Optic] and now connecting the country to the rest of world through fibre to the indian ocean, in Tanzania we are still relying on multiple microwaves links, which are limited with capacity, and this has been installed by each service providers, hence redundance of resources, eg. Voda, Tigo,Celtel,TTCL each have microwave backbone to Arusha, Dodoma etc... this is nonsense,,,

Why; Regulartory alikuwa amelala, sijui kwamba ameamka kitandani hata sasa!!!

Second,

Today, These organisations have un-used fibre optic capacity build by our taxes, TAZARA [DAR-TUNDUMA], TRC[DAR-TABORA], SONGAS[DAR-LINDI], TANESCO[DAR-KIHANSI], [DAR-TANFGA], [DAR-ARUSHA] etc,,, and almost everywhere where the national grid is installed, but till today we have not connected these high way pathways in terms data,,, and we are just waiting for them to be obsolete.

We have big problem guys!!!

Mzee Kilitime

Heshima Mkuu

Imebidi nijaribu kutoa views zangu hapa mzee si kweli kwamba hatuna matatizo ktk last mile mzee. Katika investiment ya infrastruture last mile inachuukua 50% of total network investments.

Tanzania kama nchi nyingi zinazoendea zina tatizo hili sana especially unapokuja ktk Broadbdand accessibility. Na tatizo liko wazi labda tumuulize Mwanakijiji, hivi unapokuwa kule kijijini ni watu wangapi ambao wanaweza kuhitaji mawasiliano ya Masafa Mapana(Broadband)? Based on affordability.

Solution different initiatives zinahitaji, Wimax kama kuna mtu ameamua kuweka investment actually ni msaada.

its the same wananchi that posses one of the highest mobile phones coverage rates in africa!!above 95%!!

isnt it obvious that we lack priorities??isnt it obvious that policy makers are far frrom realising What ICT realy is???

mos tgov officials still believes that ICT is a high rate of computer usage!!

they fail to understand that ICT is what a modern economy needs to flourish!!

had they realised that they would have put uppermost priority on ICT!!

because through proper ICT implementation superpowers are rising, tiger economies are flourishing.china is rising above others just because it decided to make good use of its tiredless engineers..,japan is always on top due to its keen eye on ICT..,not mentioning the US or UK.

some nations like the UK exports nothing serious BUt high tech financial services which are backed up by a very efficient ICT sector!!

if we were serious this sector would be granted a ministry and be allocated with our countries most efficient ICT pioneers and if we lack it wont be bad to import them good heads from other countries(am talking about off-shoring and not hiring the whole management!!)

i would write a paper just to explain how ICT can revolutionise our economy and hence flourishing our lives..,

BUt i always ask myself..,if once very poor countries like malaysia, thailand, indonesia, etc are now flourishing due to their realisation of ICT..what are our leader waiting for???

it doesnt take a president with a PHD to find a bunch of efficeint tanzanians lads 2 do the job and why hasnt he yet??

this current "ICT" fake buz going on in our country is as useless as the 95% mobile coverage our people have now!!why??because in the long run its very few return to future development that mobile phone coverage will bring..than if that 95% rate was of landlines!!that would have meant 95% of tanzanians would have acces to internet!!

u want advantages of that???

dont get me started but i will give a few!!

1.jamboforums will have 95%+ coverage nationalwide, just think of the advantages of that towards the civil education of our people!!

2.it wont take masanja back in bariadi longer than a minute to figure out prices of cotton in EU market and realises how mr PATEL is stealing from them!!wont be it an advantage to farmers??

3.bussinesswide tanzanias would enjoy the what e-commerce realy means..,and i think UDSM,DIT,and other university graduates will get about 70% aborption into the job market..,

4.actually if we utilise ICT to about 60% of what it can realy give us..,it will take tanzania only about 10-15 years to start to enter the middle-encome society economy and maybe 20-25 years to be a very strong economy in africa.

5.with our most stable society in africa, tanzania will see what global companies are and what they can do to the economy...,they now go to South Africa because there is no where else to go in africa!!am sure if other factors remain constants and stable then it will be only a matter of time before we see companies like microsoft,IBM,GOOGLE,GE,INTEL and a lot more others opening their doors to tanzania..,here am talking about high end research centers and ever flowing in funds for researches..,that says..,UDSM student will no longer have to "protest" to the government for small issues like accomodation and pocket money!!since universities will start to receive those donor funds in a more efficient manner(donor funding in researches)

6.if education in university is improved then that means that we will be expecting quality graduates who knows what they are doing.and where they will be to work will kindly get the best of them!!

7.now youths dont want to work in interior places due to poor communications and even lack of important services..,i believe with ICT..,things like internet,e-comerce,and other internet medium business will make life "dar-like" for those grads..then teacher will be available a little bit more in thise rural areas..,which are contributing soo much to our economy now but gets a very few return.

8.just see how efficient banks will be with a proper ICT,from cities to rural areas, just see how efficient local government will be through proper organisation...,oh i remembered-does anyone do netcoferencing in TZ??esp rural areas??i doubt.

BUT.

kuna jamaa wanabore sana hawa inabidi wajirekebishe mapema sana for the sake of everything ourcountry needs!!!

TANESCO!!

hey guys every economy needs stable power supply!!how come u cant do that???!!

its sad to see that you guys are like subbotaging our economy..,

its a shame but its also the truth.you guys are failing 36 millions tanzanians everyday!!

and if ICT has to go anywhere!!!U guys should realy get ur facts straight and stop giving senseless excuses day in day out!!

4. Swali moja wameborongs?

AJABU LAKINI KWELI ; AZIMIO LIMEKOSA WACHANGIAJI: AIBU:

Waziri amendelea kuweka mambo wazi kwa kufagilia TCRA mahali ambapo alitakiwa awafagilie wataalamu wake wa pale wizarani! mamb hayo.

Good news kwa hao wenye access ya hizo wireless computers.Lakini huko Kibondo,Nkasi,Gezaulole,Sekenke,Malinyi, etc what they want to hear ni maji, umeme wa kuaminika, barabara nzuri, madawa hospitalini,nk/ "maisha bora kwa kila Mtanzania" in terms of unafuu wa maisha.

u have a good point!!tuliweza develop mobile phone market hadi sasa wanakijiji wanamiliki simu!!je??tufanyeje ile internet iwe common??

tunahitaji landlines..,kwani they are priceless!!interms of efficiency and cooperate uses!!
pia desktop computers can be as cheap as the cellphones some people own...,and with special government policies and subsidies they can get realy cheap.

kwani a very well connected country has a better chance to develop!!

mfano 1 tu!!

water supply companies can use ICT expertise water supply usage,mis-use through better tracking systems developed by ICT.

wale wakwepa kodi ndio kabisa!!they will have no where to hide atleast!!unless they become very inteligent!!!

Suala nililo ulizwa lilinikatisha tamaa kabisa.

A WiMax network debuted in Tanzania Thursday as the service was offered in the African country's commercial center in Dar es Salaam. Eventually a nationwide WiMax grid is planned covering six major cities, according to Redline Comunications.
The deployment is a partnership of Canada's Redline, South Africa's RapidCloud Technology and Tanzania's Hotspot Business Solutions. In addition to the Dar es Salaam deployment, the initial phase of the rollout will include the establishment of a Redline RedMAX network in Arusha next month.

"With Redline's extensive experience installing OFDM and WiMax systems, we will be able to quickly deploy our network and deliver revenue-generating broadband services," said Emmanuel Nyaki, Hotspot's chief executive officer, in a statement. Hotspot is a regional telecommunications provider in Tanzania, and Nyaki said Hotspot hopes to gain a rapid return on its WiMax investment because of the network's capability of handling heavy subscriber capacity.

Noting that Hotspot expects to increase its subscriber base by 60 % over the next two years, Redline said the second phase of the deployment will get underway in January as the WiMax service is brought to Zanzibar, Morogoro, and the capital city of Dodoma. According to the Redline release "Hotspot will be able to deliver high quality voice, video, and data Internet services to government agencies, corporations, educational institutions, and residents across Tanzania."

RapidCloud will manage and coordinate the network and provide local logistical and post-sales operational support.

Yetu macho na masikio, mtakao anza kutumia tujulisheni maana mimi bado niko sceptical, ni kama wamezidisha chumvi kwenye mafanikio yanayoweza kupatikana.
