Journalists throng Harare Airport for Mugabe arrival
2012 April 11

Anxiety has gripped many Zimbabweans on the much expected arrival of President Robert Mugabe from Singapore. Mugabe, who has been away for close to 10 days is rumored to be battling for life in Singapore but Zanu-PF officials dispute that.

A contingent of local and foreign media is said to have camped at Harare International Airport waiting to capture his arrival.

Social networks have gone viral on Mugabe’s health. Some people were constantly tuning to ZBC hourly news bulletins for latest updates.

Chief Secretary to the Cabinet Misheck Sibanda early his week hinted that Mugabe could be returning home today. That was after he issued a statement advising all cabinet ministers that Tuesday cabinet meeting had been  moved to Thursday.

Mugabe chairs all sessions and in his absence they are postponed.

"The press started arriving at the airport by mid morning. Indications were that Mugabe would arrive my midday but two hours later no sign of him," tweeted one journalist.

Tweets such as "is he back home" to "Has that important plane from Singapore landed" were common.

On Wednesday morning Information, Media and Publicity minister Webster Shamu on summoned all editors from private newspapers to raise concern on the flood of Mugabe health stories.

Those who attended claim that Shamu fumed to editors and threatened to take tough action on them.

DICTATOR President Robert Mugabe returned home from Singapore on Thursday morning amid heightened speculation over his poor health
Mugabe was reportedly on his deathbed in the Far East although his lieutenants vehemently dismissed the claims.
The 88 year old authoritarian touched down at the Harare International Airport at around 7am and was whisked away by his large entourage without saying a word to the media which was anxiously waiting.
Journalists who were waiting for Mugabe's arrival said the dictator arrived in unmarked plane and was supported by his wife Grace down the stairs while Vice-President Joice Mujuru supported him to the car.
This has further sparked fears that Mugabe was unwell.
Mugabe is one of Africa's longest serving leaders and has ruled the former British colony in southern Africa since 1980. He is sharing power with political rival Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai in a fragile coalition formed three years ago.

Mugabe did not speak to reporters and was whisked away in his official presidential motorcade.

Local newspaper the Zimbabwe Mail had reported that the 88 year-old was on his "deathbed", but those close to the president insisted he was "energetic and alert" and simply enjoying an Easter holiday with his family.

Kuna thread ilianzishwa humu JF inasema....Mugabe close to death.......anzisha nyingine sasa na kusema ....Mugabe now far from death..........

Dictator? Dictator my foot!
