Chelsea disrupted by hotel fire alarm

Chelsea's preparations for their vital Barclays Premier League clash against Manchester United were interrupted by a hotel fire alarm early on Sunday morning.

Chelsea coach Luiz Felipe Scolari, his backroom staff, players and other hotel guests were all evacuated from their Manchester hotel when the alarm was raised at seven o'clock.

The entire Chelsea squad was kept outside while the local fire brigade made certain the hotel was safe.

Fire officers searched the hotel floors to ensure it was safe to return and the Chelsea players spent around 50 minutes outside and in the lobby before being allowed to go back to their rooms.

Chelsea face United at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon knowing a victory will leave them just one point behind leaders Liverpool at the top of the table.

...conspiracy theories innit?

A report in the Sun claims Maradona's love of Cuban cigars was to blame for evacuation of Manchester's Radisson Edwardian Hotel at 7am on Sunday morning, just nine hours before kick-off at Old Trafford.

Chelsea's players were forced to wait outside the hotel in bitterly cold conditions for 40 minutes before the could return to their rooms.

United went on to defeat a tired-looking Chelsea side 3-0 while Argentina coach Maradona - in Manchester to watch Carlos Tevez - watched from the stands.

The Sun quotes a fireman at the scene saying: "It looks as though it was set off by Diego and his entourage smoking cigars on the 14th floor."

BIG Phil Scolari’s job is on the line in the wake of an astonishing bust-up with Nicolas Anelka.

The Blues board were stunned by Chelsea’s shocking display in Sunday’s 3-0 defeat at Manchester United which left them four points behind leaders Liverpool.

And we can reveal the Blues boss has clashed with French striker Anelka, who is fuming at being dumped on the bench for the last three games. The two rowed at training with Scolari telling Anelka he would start at Old Trafford only if he agreed to play on the left.

But the sulky Frenchman, the Premier League’s 14-goal top scorer, refused and demanded to be used down the middle.

A Chelsea insider confirmed: “Nothing is going right at the moment and there are suddenly a lot of questions being asked about Mr Scolari’s management style.”

Scolari’s problems could deepen tomorrow when Chelsea face a tricky FA Cup third-round replay at Southend.

Defeat is virtually unthinkable — especially with a board meeting scheduled for Thursday at which Scolari will have to explain Chelsea’s wretched form.

The board had been hugely supportive of Scolari but are losing faith.

SunSport has revealed Chelsea players think Scolari’s training regime is not intensive enough.

His decision to institute a range of fines, including one about diet, has annoyed many and there is a lack of trust between manager and team. Scolari said: “I need to talk with the players. They have to ask in their own minds if they believe we can still do it.

“There are two options. Either I stick with the players and they raise themselves or I try different players.”

Makocha bwana kazi yao!Anyway the more pressure you signifies more money is given to you so u need to work hard otherwise kibarua chaota nyasi soon
