Is Tanzania a primitive State?

There's no day like today that I ever felt shy like. When I saw my president being in a motorcade and hustling to the Airport so as to launch a plane that has arrived today from the US.

Was there any necessity to have our president in the scene? Is a plane so strange and austere to us in such a way that it was very much obligatory to have a head of state in place?

In this world of high class science and technology particularly in this 21st century, is a plane still a new thing to us?

The president's slogan lives by "Tanzania ya Viwanda " and not by 'Tanzania ya ndege ",so he should have just walked by his slogan in order to build more factories which would possibly have hired a big number of people, unlike planes.

I have seen the CCM fans clapping their hands on the arrival of the plane. To them, their chairman does not go wrong, he is their godfather.

A plane is just a sky bus, so having the government entourage in the Airport has exposed us internationally as the primitive state.

The incidence was overrated if you define your development in terms of what other nations have done. Well to Ethiopia with 100 flight fleet it would be weird to celebrate reception of a single plane.
But if you define your development in your terms, what was done was correct, it was a commercial advert with wide coverage alarting the world that ATC is back in business. It wasn't about a having a plane in place as a nation, but it was about business.

The yesterday's scene at JN International Airport depicts Tanzanians as the people living in the 21st century only physically but mentally we're in the 19th century.

Celebrating the arrival of the aircraft to the extent of calling off the official business of the government shows not only how naive we're but how we lack seriousness in dealing with the problems and the challenges that perennially affect our nation.

From our experience, we know the way our government tries to distract our attention from concentrating about our economic plight so we should think about the aircraft.

We take this opportunity to advise the president to desist from practising his now 'trade mark' populist politics and instead engage in a comprehensive programme to push on his industrialization policy that is slowly turning into nothing but a political gimmick cunningly designed to garner him votes from the unsuspecting electorate in the last elections.

We urge him to reserve such frivolous events to be presided over by his deputies or the minister holding the communication and transport docket.

The countries such as Ethiopia and Kenya own a myriad number of such kind of aircrafts but have never cancelled the government's routine in favour of such senseless revelries. It's high time we became of age.
