Activists send new boat to challenge Gaza blockade

JERUSALEM – Pro-Palestinian activists sent another boat to challenge Israel's blockade of the Gaza on Tuesday and Egypt declared it was temporarily opening a crossing into the Palestinian territory after a raid on an aid flotilla that ended with Israeli soldiers killing nine activists.

The raid provoked ferocious international condemnation of Israel, raised questions at home, and appeared likely to increase pressure to end the blockade that has deepened the poverty of the 1.5 million Palestinians in the strip. Turkey, which unofficially supported the flotilla, has led the criticism, calling the Israeli raid a "bloody massacre."

Amid the increasing tensions, the Israeli military said it carried out an airstrike in Gaza on Tuesday, and an Islamic militant group said three of its members were killed after firing rockets into southern Israel. Israeli authorities say the rockets landed in open areas and caused no injuries.

Two militants infiltrating into Israel from Gaza were killed in a separate incident Tuesday, the military said.

The pro-Palestinian flotilla had been headed to Gaza with tens of thousands of tons of aid that Israel bans from Gaza. After days of warnings, Israel intercepted the flotilla under the cover of darkness early Monday, setting off a violent melee that left nine activists dead and dozens of people, including seven soldiers, wounded. Most of the dead were believed to be Turks.

Israel said 679 people were arrested, and about 50 of those had left the country voluntarily. Hundreds who refused to cooperate remained jailed and subject to deportation.

Israel says the Gaza blockade is needed to prevent the Iranian-backed Hamas, which has fired thousands of rockets into the Jewish state, from building up its arsenal. It also wants to pressure Hamas to free an Israeli soldier it has held for four years.

Critics say the blockade has failed to weaken Hamas but further strapped an already impoverished economy. It also has prevented Gaza from rebuilding after a devastating Israeli military offensive early last year.

Egypt, which has enforced the blockade with Israel since Hamas militants seized control of Gaza in 2007, said it was opening the border for several days to allow aid into the area.

The governor of Egyptian's northern Sinai district, Murad Muwafi, said it was a humanitarian gesture meant to "alleviate the suffering of our Palestinean brothers after the Israeli attack."

Several thousand Gazans made a furious rush to the Egyptian border, hoping to take advantage of a rare chance to escape the blockaded territory.

Cars with suitcases piled on their roofs streamed to the border, while many others lugged overstuffed bags on foot. Dozens of Hamas police with automatic weapons are patrolling the area to maintain order.

"We are working to help residents take advantage of this opportunity," said Hamas Interior Ministry spokesman Ihab Ghussein. "We hope it will be open all the time, not just as a response to yesterday's events."

Greta Berlin said the Free Gaza Movement, which organized the flotilla, would not be deterred and that another cargo boat was off the coast of Italy en route to Gaza. A second boat carrying about three dozen passengers is expected to join it, Berlin said. She said the two boats would arrive in the region late this week or early next week.

"This initiative is not going to stop," she said from the group's base in Cyprus. "We think eventually Israel will get some kind of common sense. They're going to have to stop the blockade of Gaza, and one of the ways to do this is for us to continue to send the boats."

Protests have erupted in a number of Muslim countries including Turkey, which unofficially supported the flotilla, Indonesia and Malaysia, where a Palestinian man slashed himself outside the American Embassy.

Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, an outspoken critic of Israel, told lawmakers Tuesday that the Israeli raid was an attack "on international law, the conscience of humanity and world peace."

"This bloody massacre by Israel on ships that were taking humanitarian aid to Gaza deserves every kind of curse," he said, demanding that Israel immediately halt its "inhumane" blockade of Gaza.

Turkey's Foreign Ministry said four Turkish citizens were confirmed slain by Israeli commandos and another five were also believed to be Turks. Israeli authorities were still trying to confirm their nationalities.

Thousands of pro-Islamic and nationalist Turks have poured into the streets in Istanbul and Ankara since the report of the Israeli raid. Protesters with Palestinian and Turkish flags shouted "Down with Israel!" outside Israeli diplomatic missions.
Within Israel, the raid sparked intense debate over why the military operation went awry.

Israel sent commandos onto the six ships carrying nearly 700 activists after mission organizers ignored the government's call to bring the cargo to an Israeli port, where it would be inspected and transferred to Gaza. In most cases, the passengers quickly surrendered. But on the largest ship, the Turkish-flagged Mavi Marmara, the forces encountered resistance.

Israeli commandos rappelled on ropes from a helicopter one by one and army videos showed them being attacked by angry activists with metal rods and one soldier being thrown off the ship. Others jumped overboard to escape the angry mob.

Israeli authorities said they were attacked by knives, clubs and live fire from two pistols wrested from soldiers. The soldiers then opened fire, killing nine.

Israeli military analysts said it was a mistake to send commandos to board the ship and the military could have used non-lethal weapons such as tear gas. They also said the intelligence-gathering was faulty.

Retired Gen. Shlomo Brom asked why the ships' engines weren't sabotaged instead.

"There were certain objectives to this operation. One was not to let the vessels get to Gaza, but the other objective was to do it without any damage to Israel's image," Brom told The Associated Press. "Certainly it failed."

The daily Maariv, in a front-page headline, called the raid a "debacle."

Sabine Haddad, spokeswoman for the Israeli Interior Ministry, said 679 people were arrested and handed deportation orders. By midafternoon Tuesday, some 50 people had left the country voluntarily. But hundreds refused to cooperate and were sent to jail.

"The rest said they wanted to go to jail and are at Beersheba jail going through a process of deportation," she said. She said judges were hearing the cases and that almost everyone would be expelled within the next few days.

She said more than half of those arrested were from Turkey, with others coming from more than 30 other countries, including Britain, Algeria, Jordan, Kuwait, Germany and the U.S. Israeli police said four Arab Israeli citizens would face criminal charges.

Israel did not allow access to the activists, but a handful who were deported arrived home Tuesday, including a Turkish woman and her 1-year-old son, six Greeks and three German lawmakers.

"There was a massacre on board," said the woman, Nilufer Cetin, whose husband, Ekrem, is the ship's engineer and was still in Israeli custody. "The ship turned into a lake of blood."

Turkey said it was sending three ambulance planes to Israel to return 20 Turkish activists injured in the operation and had other aircraft ready to get other activists. About 400 Turks took part in the flotilla.

The flotilla was the ninth attempt by sea to breach the blockade Israel and Egypt imposed after Hamas violently seized the territory. Israel allowed five seaborne aid shipments through but snapped the blockade shut after its 2009 war in Gaza.
There was little call in Israel for an end to the blockade. Israelis have little sympathy for Gaza, which sent thousands of rockets and mortar rounds crashing into Israel for years before last year's war.

Tensions along the Israeli-Gaza border were tense following the naval raid.

The Iranian-backed Islamic Jihad said three of its fighters were killed Tuesday shortly after firing rockets into southern Israel. Israeli authorities say the rockets landed in open areas and caused no injuries.

The Israeli military confirmed its airstrike, and Gaza's chief medical examiner also said there were three deaths. On Tuesday morning, the Israeli military said Gaza militants infiltrated Israel and exchanged fire with troops. Israeli rescue services said two militants were killed, but the military would not immediately confirm that.

Turkish PM calls Israeli ship raid a 'massacre'

AP – Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan addresses his lawmakers at the parliament in Ankara, Turkey, …

By SELCAN HACAOGLU and SUZAN FRASER, Associated Press Writer

ANKARA, Turkey – The Turkish prime minister furiously blamed Israel on Tuesday for a "bloody massacre" that killed nine people on a Gaza-bound Turkish aid ship, and proclaimed that the two countries had reached a turning point in their long-standing alliance.

Turkey withdrew its ambassador to Israel immediately after the raid, scrapped three joint military exercises and called the U.N. Security Council to an emergency meeting that demanded an impartial investigation.

Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan told lawmakers in Parliamentthat the boarding of the Mediterranean flotilla and killing of at least four Turkish activists was an attack "on international law, the conscience of humanity and world peace."

"Today is a turning point in history. Nothing will be same again," Erdogan said, gesturing angrily and his voice shaking at times.

Turkey's Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu demanded ahead of a meeting with U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton that the United States condemn the raid, a measure the White House has not taken.

This predominantly Muslim and historically secular country has had decades of close military and trade ties with the U.S. and the Jewish state.

Turkey welcomed Jews fleeing Nazi persecution during the World War II and was among the first Muslim countries to recognize Israel in 1948. The Israeli and Turkish militaries work closely together - Israel recently completed an upgrade of Turkish tanks and warplanes worth more than $1 billion.

But relations between Israel's year-old right-leaning government and Turkey's Islamic-rooted administration, which took power in 2002, have been deteriorating since Israel's 2008-2009 war in Gaza.

Erdogan walked off the stage last year after berating Israel's President Shimon Peres at an international gathering in Davos, Switzerland, over the war in Gaza.

In January, Turkish Ambassador Oguz Celikkol was not greeted with a handshake and was forced to sit on a low sofa during a meeting in Israel with Deputy Foreign Minister Danny Ayalon, who later apologized.

The killing of the Turkish activists by Israeli soldiers on a Turkish-flagged ship unleashed a new level of fury against Israel.
Thousands of pro-Islamic and nationalist Turks poured into the streets in Istanbul and Ankara Monday and protests continued on Tuesday outside Israeli diplomatic missions, with demonstrators carrying Palestinian and Turkish flags and shouting "down with Israel!

"It is something inhumane," Ali Goktas, an 18-year-old air-conditioner repairman said in Ankara. "I would like to see a harsher Turkish government reaction in the face of such an attack against Turkish people."

Turkey's Foreign Ministry said four Turkish citizens were confirmed slain by Israeli commandos and another five were also believed to be Turks, although Israeli authorities were still trying to confirm their nationalities.

"This bloody massacre by Israel on ships that were taking humanitarian aid to Gaza deserves every kind of curse," Erdogan said angrily, demanding that Israel immediately halt its "inhumane" blockade of Gaza.

Organized by the Istanbul-based Foundation for Human Rights and Freedoms and Humanitarian Relief under the unofficial auspices of the Turkish government, the flotilla was the ninth attempt by sea to breach the three-year-old blockade of Gaza. Israel and Egypt imposed the blockade after the violent 2007 seizure by Hamas militants of Gaza, home to 1.5 million Palestinians. Israel allowed five seaborne aid shipments to get through but snapped the blockade shut after the 2008-2009 war.

Israeli officials have said the Turkish charity is merely a front and that the group is has links to al-Qaida and Hamas despite its operating legally in Turkey. The charity denies the charges.

Turkey's Deputy Prime Minister Bulent Arinc said Turkey would launch legal action in a Turkish court against Israel over the deadly raid.

There were signs, however, that the long-term strategic partnership between the Jewish state and its most important Muslim ally will endure: Turkey cancelled three joint land and sea exercises but appears to be otherwise maintaining deep military ties that include the planned delivery of $183 million worth of Israeli drone planes this summer.

Bilateral trade stands around $2.6 billion - roughly one percent of Turkey's overall trade.

Erdogan said the Israeli raid proved "how good they are at killing people."

"Israel in no way can legitimize this murder, it cannot wash its hands of this blood," Erdogan said.

Turkey has been increasingly assertive diplomatically in the Middle East, backing Iran's attempts to quash new U.N. sanctions over its nuclear program and trying to mediate Israeli talks with Syria, which demands the full withdrawal of Israeli troops from the Golan Heights as a condition for peace.

Erdogan has often said the world is turning a blind eye to Israel's nuclear program and that Iran's is being scrutinized because of its membership in the International Atomic Energy Agency whereas Israel, which has not signed a nonproliferation treaty, is "free to do what it wants."

Erdogan said Turkey would continue to support the Palestinian people.

"We will not turn our back on Palestine, Palestinians and Gaza," Erdogan said.

"No one should test Turkey's patience," he added. "Turkey's hostility is as strong as its friendship is valuable."
He urged Israelis to question the actions of their government.

"It is damaging your country's image by conducting banditry and piracy," Erdogan said. "It is damaging interests of Israel and your peace and safety. It is the Israeli people who must stop the Israeli government in the first place."

He said Israel cannot face the international community without expressing "regret."

"Israel cannot ensure its security by drawing the hatred of the entire world," the prime minister declared.
Turkey sent three planes to bring back some 20 Turks wounded during clashes that broke out when Israeli commandos raided the Turkish vessel. Erdogan said he had snubbed an Israeli offer to fly back the Turkish wounded.

sASA HAO NDIO WANA wAISRAEL AMBAO WEWE WAWATETEA.

Hawajui si International law wala humanitarian law, licha ya law of the sea.

Mii nashangaa mtu mweusi kuwashabikia Wayahudi. Ujinga mtupu.

Israeli Ambassador: Al Qaeda Tied To Flotilla
Tells CBS 2 CIA Has Proof Of Terrorist Involvement As Well; Says Passengers Had Knives, Iron Bars, Sling Shots

Video released by the IDF shows Israeli commandos being attacked after boarding the Mavi Marmara ship on May 31.

Pressure is mounting on Israel after that deadly raid on ships trying to breach the blockade of Gaza.

Nine people were killed.

Israel said its footage shows that commandos acted in self defense, but criticism of the raid is growing. CBS 2 HD was at an East Side where protest on Tuesday afternoon.

The controversy over Israel's raid on a Gaza-bound flotilla has brought demonstrators -- on both sides -- to the streets here. But until an investigation is done President Barack Obama seems to be cutting Israel some slack on the demand by many nations for Israel to end its blockade.

"I think it's helpful to understand that this is a blockade to not allow weapons to get into the hands of Hamas," White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs said.

The Israeli commando raid to stop a flotilla of ships from breaking a blockade of the Gaza Strip has provoked ferocious international condemnation, but President Obama has reacted cautiously. He supported a United Nations call for an investigation, but he did not demand an end to the blockade, which Israel said Tuesday it won't and can't do.

"We can't lift the blockade. It would be rendering our own citizens vulnerable to murderous rocket fire. No Israeli government from any political party could ever take such an effort," Michael Oren, the Israeli ambassador to the U.S., told CBS 2 HD.

The international investigation will focus on who provoked who the Turkish passengers or Israeli commandos.

Right now it's he-said, she-said.

Color video by the passengers on board the Turkish ship in international waters shows distraught citizens who, the Free Gaza people said, were assaulted by the soldiers without provocation.

Adam Shapiro said his wife, who was with the Free Gaza movement on another ship, backed up that side of the story.

"They used physical force, punching and kicking at the people on board," Shapiro said.

Brad Taylor of the Gaza Freedom Coalition here in New York agreed.

"One thing we do have from reliable sources is that the Israelis landed on the boats and they fired on the passengers of the boats upon arrival," Taylor said.

But that account is contradicted by the Israeli military's black and white video which shows the passengers on board the Turkish ship attacking the soldiers and they descended from helicopters and even throwing one soldier over the railing.

"We simply came into a war," one of the commandos said. "They attacked every soldier that came on the ship. They threw soldiers down a level and into the sea, took off their equipment."

"We found knives. We found iron bars. We found sling shots with glass beads, which can prove lethal and several of our troops sustained gunshot wounds as well," Ambassador Oren added.

Israel also said terrorists were involved that have ties to al Qaeda.

"I believe that the organization involved in organizing the Turkish part of the flotilla was deeply linked to Islamic extremist organizations in the world," Ambassador Oren said. "This is not just Israel's conclusions. There is evidence from the CIA."

President Obama and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke three times Monday. Both Gibbs and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton defended Israeli's need to protect itself from rockets fired from Gaza into Israeli homes and schools.

"The situation in Gaza is unsustainable and unacceptable. Israel's legitimate security needs must be met just as the Palestinians' need sustained humanitarian assistance," Clinton said.

There are signs Israel is listening. A spokesman for Prime Minister Netanyahu said the government is looking for ways to ease the blockade and get more goods into Gaza.

"Keep in mind that over 10 trucks laden with food and medicine enter Gaza every single day. There's no shortage of food. There's no shortage of medicine," Ambassador Oren said.

While the demonstrations continue continued in New York, pro-Palestinians activists said they have two more boats on the way to challenge Israel's blockade.

Turkey wants US condemnation of Israeli raid

AP – Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton speaks at the State Department in Washington, Monday, June …

By DESMOND BUTLER, Associated Press Writer

WASHINGTON – Turkey demanded on Tuesday that the United States condemn the deadly Israeli raid on an aid flotilla headed to the Gaza Strip that ended with Israel killing nine activists.

Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu told reporters ahead of a meeting with Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton that Turkey, an unofficial backer of the flotilla, was disappointed with the Obama administration's response to the raid.

State Department spokesman P.J. Crowley said later that Davutoglu did not demand a U.S. condemnation in his meeting with Clinton.

"The secretary reiterated during the meeting what she said afterwards, which is we have to have a careful, thoughtful approach to this going forward," Crowley said.

Another senior Obama Official said Davutoglu had in fact made plain to the United States his disappointment in the response. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the issue.

A Turkish official said that in his meeting with Clinton and a separate meeting with national security adviser James Jones,
Davutoglu had asked the United State to convey to Israel that Turkey was preparing measures in response unless Israel moved quickly to release the Turkish citizens held in the raid and return the bodies of those killed, most of whom were believed to have been Turks. The official also spoke on condition of anonymity for a similar reason.

Later, President Barack Obama spoke by telephone with Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan. The White House said Obama expressed his condolences and was "working in consultation with Israel to help achieve the release of the passengers, including those deceased and wounded, and the ships themselves."

Obama also made clear the U.S. support for a credible investigation.

"The president affirmed the importance of finding better ways to provide humanitarian assistance to the people of Gaza without undermining Israel's security," the White House statement said.

The White House has reacted cautiously, asking for full disclosure of the facts about the raid. The killings have put the administration in an awkward position between two allies at a time that it is trying to refocus Middle East peace talks and win new sanctions against Iran in the United Nation's Security Council.

Most of those killed in the raid were believed to be Turks, and Turkey has demanded return of the bodies.

In a sign of the sensitivity of the raid on U.S.-Turkish relations, the State Department closed coverage of the meeting to the press. It had previously scheduled a photo opportunity , a venue in which reporters probably would have tried to ask questions.

Before they met, however, Davutoglu was perfectly open about the message he would convey to Clinton.
"I have to be frank: I am not very happy with this statement from Washington yesterday ," Davutoglu said. "We expect a clear condemnation."

He said that Turkey, a NATO member, would bring up the issue soon at the security alliance's council.
"Citizens of member states were attacked by a country that is not a member of NATO," he said. "I think you can make some conclusions out of this statement."

Davutoglu said that there was no need to wait for an investigation of the killings, because in Turkey's view the raid was illegal under international law because it happened in international waters.

"This is a criminal act," he said. "We don't need to make an investigation to see this."

Davutoglu also contrasted his criticism of the United States with praise of the statements by the European Union.

Hawajui si International law wala humanitarian law, licha ya law of the sea.
Mii nashangaa mtu mweusi kuwashabikia Wayahudi. Ujinga mtupu.

Unajua madhila walioyaleta kwene nchi walizoziteka ktk kipindi walipokuwa wababe?

Waache wayahudi na waarabu watwangane wao wenyewe..sie ya kwetu yanatushinda kazi u-bandwagon tuuuuu.

Video released by the IDF shows Israeli commandos being attacked after boarding the Mavi Marmara ship on May 31.

Israel now says it's willing to talk about allowing aid to enter Gaza.

The change comes after Israel faced mounting criticism over its deadly raid on ships trying to breach the blockade of Gaza.

The heat from the Middle East spilled out onto New York City streets on Tuesday night in the form of a vocal debate about the morality of the raid off Gaza, and blame for the bloodshed.

"We have no question about who is right on this. Israel, of course," Pro-Israel demonstrator Helen Freedman said.

"I'm sick and tired of Americans, the American media, the United States, people in the United States turning a blind eye whenever Israel does something outrageous," anti-Israeli demonstrator Mel Bienenfield said.

It's not that the incident has changed many minds, but it seems to have reinforced preconceived notions. You get the feeling people have been waiting for a rally point and believe the botched raid on the high seas has provided it.

"I think Israel has finally crossed the line and the time has come for some sort of mass movement," anti-Israel demonstrator Divya Chirian said.

"They're trying to make a point. They're trying to force Israel into a position where it can't defend itself," pro-Israel demonstrator Ian Silver added.

Nine civilians were killed, and many more injured, including a number of Israeli soldiers who were visited by their prime minister on Tuesday.

Hundreds of people from a variety of countries who were taken off the ships are being deported. Among them was an 80-year-old American activist whose daughter spoke with CBS 2 HD earlier Tuesday night.

"This would've been my father's fourth trip to Gaza," said Kate Schemerhorn, adding that he's run the blockade before.

But not this time. Israel's ambassador to the United Nations said many humanitarian activists were duped into participating in an extremist provocation.

"The organization that was involved in organizing the Turkish part of the flotilla was deeply linked to Islamic extremist organizations in the world. It was certainly a deliberate attempt to sabotage Israel, to provoke Israel and the organizers made no attempt to hide their intention," Ambassador Michael Oren said.

Provoke they did, and now supporters of the Israeli government are worried about backlash. On Tuesday night Congressman Anthony Weiner spoke about that while attending a town hall meeting on Israel in Kew gardens.

"For much of the world the default position is Israel is wrong and the United States is wrong and at moments like this we have to stand with our allies. There is a lot of anxiety here," said Rep. Weiner, D-Brooklyn and Queens.

Kweli wewe unaridhia.
Mwenye njaa akiweza kumfanya lolote anayemzuia kula hana kosa.

Get your thoughts straight maana kila mtu akiongozwa na blind hatred like you hali itakuwa mbaya sana duniani.

The world is so full of shit no no no blacks are so full of shit.

sASA HAO NDIO WANA wAISRAEL AMBAO WEWE WAWATETEA.
