Bimkubwa utakuwa jirani wewe maana nami mzee Chaku alikuwa jirani yangu pale Temeke mwisho....
I was two houses right from his home on Mkuranga street. My family has moved since the early 1990s. Nimetembelea Temeke mwisho a few times recently. Mara ya mwisho I heard Dick Chakubanga passed away. I do not know about steven Chakubanga maana sijamsikia siku nyingi, Anna Chakubanaga also. i know she had two kids with a Dr. at Temeke hospital other than that it has been a while now. I hear Selina Chakubanga (mjukuu) has been around alot but I don't know if she is still around. Just PM me so that we can catch up.
Christian Gregory, who created the character "Chakubanga," published in UHURU from 1967 onwards. Chakubanga is a barefoot, urban dweller, street smart and knowledgeable about the problems that ordinary people face. The name Chakubanga is derived from the vernacular language Kimakonde (of Southern Tanzania and Northern Mozambique) and is translated as "the one who looks foolish." Gregory was trained as an electrician and worked as one in Dar es Salaam, drawing cartoons as a sideline. His characters, Polo (friend and straight man), Mama Chupaki (wife), Chupaki (question-raising son) and Mzee Bushiri (upcountry relative) are all Tanzanian archetypes and supply the framework for the humor.

Mkuu, umenikumbusha mbali sana ila umemsahau mtoto wa Bushiri aliyeitwa Chukurubu na zile Makala zake za Kaka Miye kenye Gazeti la Mzalendo kila Jumapili.
...But like all other fellow Local artists, he died a poor man while, if we care for our artists, his Chakubanga strip should have made him a rich man, if not a Millionaire!
You are right.
