The original tune by a south African in the late 1800s had same meaning “ God Bless Africa “. Whomever came up with Tanganyika anthem at independence copied exactly same tune with original opening phrase ( just translated Zulu to Swahili). then added watoto wa Tanganyika later Tanzania. But the tune is South African. I give credit to Bongo because that initiative was followed by other southern African nations as a show of unity against colonialism especially to show solidarity with unfree South African blacks. Those are the facts.
