Goal has been told that #Arsenal have already been sounding out potential candidates to replace Emery, although promoting Freddie Ljungberg on a temporary basis remains the most likely option for now.

Massimiliano Allegri has been linked with the role but does not plan to return to management until the summer at the earliest. The Italian also spoke to #Arsenal during the interview process to find a successor to Arsene Wenger & was overlooked.

Should Arsenal fail to get a result against Frankfurt, Emery’s position would be under massive threat, with Sunday’s trip to Norwich City potentially his last chance to keep himself in a job. [@charles_watts] #afc

I honestly believe that Arsenal have decided to sack Emery but are waiting to confirm a replacement before making it official.

Mikel Arteta still has plenty of admirers at Arsenal, but it is not expected that he would be keen on leaving his role as Pep Guardiola’s assistant at Manchester City before the end of the current campaign. [Goal] #afc

More than happy with Freddie taking over until the end of the season if it means getting the right man in the summer.

The players like and respect him, he'll freshen things up too. He's someone that knows the club really well and understands what it means to all involved.

Unai Emery cuts out live scouting of Arsenal's opposition teams in favour of watching videos himself [@MattHughesDM

Emery told the club during a review last summer that he prefers to watch games himself rather than read analysis compiled by others. The Spaniard spends hours watching recordings of Arsenal’s forthcoming opponents on his laptop [@MattHughesDM]

Some at the club are convinced Emery’s time would be better spent addressing the weaknesses in his own side. Other senior figures have argued that by relying on videos rather than eyewitness accounts, aspects of opponents’ strengths & weaknesses are being missed [@MattHughesDM]View attachment 1272897View attachment 1272898
