African Satellite World and Sat Gear

African Satellite World and Sat Gear

Hi, where can one buy AV -RF converter for several channels or is there any other way how to sambaza signal to neighbours and watch different channels. Kindly explain.

Apparently some satgear i was importing has been held by customs "pending clarification of goods valuation". Anyone who has ever encountered this please give me tips. Thanks

Hi it is only chai that will get u out of this mzee. They will overvalue and charge u exorbitantly. Your purchase receipts will assist u too. They also use the same language for security checks because maybe the gadgets u have imported are complex and they might not charge u much. I would have assisted u if they are in Eld int airport.

PM your no so that I connect you with a guy who has been an importer for the same products for long . He might assist u.

actually it is not ka but ku, try 12645 H 30000
most channels are not active, the like of k24, NTV citizen tv but ctizen with radio audio is active.

"Mr LUNSAT, where are you getting ka band from and who said they are on ka band"

"Mr LUNSAT, where are you getting ka band from and who said they are on ka band"

please be visiting Home - FlySat Satellite Chart every now and then for all the latest channel updates.
Thats how Mr. Lunsat and everyone else knows the channels are on kaband. flysat.PNG

They are on Ka Band. Can we receive channels on Ka Band using normal Ku Band LNB.Is it possible to receive 7E on one dish with multitv (28.2E) as primary using 6ft prime focus dish. Please advise.

Hey Kibukila with all the humility that I can muster, would you kindly clarify coz for all I know Ka band is mostly used for satellite internet services. Someone?

I asked the same question to get clarification.Check on flysat the new channels are listed under Ka Band.I personaly do not understand the Ka Band.

SAT2,
with all the due repect, it is you who is not getting us. it is not possible to get ka ftequency on ku band. according flysat.com, the said frequency was for ka band.
please just check the update on flysat.com. Nobody want anything from ka band.

New Software for SRt4920 4922 & 4922A, support more functions for IP TV 138p

"Regiment, the channels are on ku band please go to that same flysat and you will get them on ku band " otherwise can we explore the possibility of trying ka band there are LNB of ka band which is very stable like this one here ;

"Kabusha taa kolwele bowa" - meaning one who asks never gets to eat poisonous mashrooms.

Just like we have bands in radio transmission such as short wave band, Medium wave band, long wave band, we also have bands in satellite signal transmission.

C band = 4-8 GHZ
Ku band = 11.2-14.5 GHZ
Ka band = 26.5-40 GHZ

Previously we didnt have Ka band signals beamed to Africa for Direct to home TV transmission. But now it looks like its slowly coming in. The problem is that the Ka band LNBFs are not common on the African market yet.

An LNBF is a dedicated receiver (yes a fully fledged receiver) for one band only and is totally blind to the signals in the other bands. So you can only tune to the channels in a given band if you have the correct LNBF, otherwise you cant. If the LNBF is the correct one for the band it will receive the signal, amplify it and down-convert it to an intermediate frequency (IF) in the range 950 - 1450 Mhz using the formula transponder frequency minus the LNBF local oscillator frequency (LOF) example: 11700 - 10750 = 950. The decoder is a dedicated receiver for the intermediate frequency range and it cant show you what the LNBF has'nt given it.

Now regarding the controversial channels, if they are on KU band you will get them with a KU LNBF, but if they are on Ka band you cant get them with a KU band LNBF. I think this is a technical point on which we can agree.

After checking flysat I have seen that the channels are indeed on ka band But the ka band beam is not an african beam but a europe c beam. I suspect the channels may also be on KU band on the same sat because Muvi TV is also shown as Ka band but I am getting it on KU. I think since flysat depends on people like you and me to inform them of new channels they havent shown the African KU coverage because no one in Africa has told them.

Well Explained(I also Thought So)-Thanks

Hi guys I will give you a much technical info on 'ka' band the best info is that we will use a much smaller dish size as compared to what we are using on both C and Ku band now, Ka-band is the next frequency band that the satellite industry is currently moving to as the availability of spectrum at C-band and Ku-band diminishes and nears
saturation. Ka-band is expected to transform satellite communications, in much the
same way that Ku-band completely changed the original C-band industry some two
decades ago.
The adoption of Ku-band in the 1980s and 90s provided more capacity and
bandwidth, but it did much more than that. it introduced the concept of regional
beams, signalling the rise of regional satellite operators such as Eutelsat, Arabsat
and others. The use of Ku-band, together with a US ‘open skies' policy, opened
the door to the widespread use of smaller end-user antennas/VSATs (Very Small
Aperture Terminals), enabling the deployment of more cost-effective customer
networks.
Ka-band will trigger a similar step-change in the satellite communications industry,
but the impact will be much bigger, presenting challenges for some existing
operators, yet at the same time creating new opportunities and business models for
others. Ka-band is the logical successor to Ku-band and will evolve into the delivery
mechanism of choice for emerging markets and high-demand regions throughout
the world. The use of Ka-band for a range of satellite
communications applications provides
customers with large amounts of "new"
capacity, higher speeds and smaller
VSATs to enable more cost-effective
network deployments. Ka-band is well
suited to support the next generation of
communication applications which require
large amounts of high-throughput capacity
which cannot be met using C- and Ku-band
frequency allocations alone.
In addition to Ka-band's much needed
"new" capacity to support high-throughput
applications, user terminal equipment
prices are also decreasing. This is driven by
the rapidly growing, large scale consumer
services such as WildBlue, ViaSat and the
soon-to-launch Global Xpress system from
Inmarsat. This applies not only to fixed
terminals but also to mobile terminals
for land, maritime and airborne use. The
deployment of the Ka-band Wideband Global
Satcom (WGS) military system and the US Air Force's AEHF satellite network
is further fuelling the availability of a large volume of fixed and mobile Ka-band
terminals at attractive prices. There are a number of different suppliers of Kaband
terminals in the market, from different countries, which makes for a healthy,
competitive supply situation. What we can do is to encourage merchandisers to import ka lnb so that we can get them.

DOHA, Qatar and PARIS, October 29, 2013 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- Eutelsat Communications (euronext paris:ETL) and Es'hailSat announce that their jointly owned EUTELSAT 25B/Es'hail 1 satellite, a joint venture satellite, launched on 29 August, went into commercial service this morning at 25.5° East.

Good Afternoon Mwangi57,

Have experienced the same while importing Skybox 4 from China via DHL.
It took about 8 days to clear.
I received a call from DHL agents in Kenya requesting if they could pay 2000/= in duty fee so that my parcel could be released, of which i agreed too.

Which shipping company did you use?

Hi Bw. Kungu,
I ordered from aliexpress using DHL. One of their reps called me today to enquire if they could pay customs on my behalf to which i agreed. The rates were punitively high though.
I dont know if the same could have happened with another shipping method.

Hi, I was also planning to import via Jkia then a clearing and forwarding friend advised me to look for an alternative like African Salihiya coz when Kra doubt the price of the goods they will hold them, Google for the price of similar goods from the country of origin and you pay duty with the price they will put. He told me regular importers of large consignment are not bothered on price
