34 PEOPLE ACCUSED OF RIOTING IN CHIWEMPALA CHARGED WITH TERRORISM

34 individuals who took part in Chiwempala riots in Chingola on the 8th November, 2025 have been charged with terrorism after the State applied to Amend the indictment.

Chingola Resident Magistrate, Maybin Kapaya, granted the State's application to amend the charge sheet, adding the terrorism count.

The accused now face multiple charges, including terrorism, riotous behavior, arson, damage to property and theft.

Earlier, the Court granted bail to the nine juvenile defendants on condition that they pay K5,000 in their own recognizance and provide two sureties.

However, bail for the juveniles has been reserved for ruling on Monday, December 22, 2025, following the amendment of the indictment.

Meanwhile the 25 adult defendants have been denied bail.
