World Cup 2010 SA: Match updates (From June 11)

Algeria ni Jiwe walilolikaa Waashi sasa litakuwa Jiwe kuu la Pembeni. Mark my word Algeria leo anatinga Makundi

Jana Nimefurahi Argentina kushinda ila nimechukizwa na Nigeria kushindwa. Nawatakia Kila la Kheri Argentina maana I can't afford to miss the soccer passionate Diego Armando Maradona akiwa katika Benchi la Ufundi akipiga samasoti kwa Midadi

Parreira close to tears as he bids farewell

Carlos Alberto Parreira was close to tears as he bade farewell to South Africa on Tuesday, the World Cup adventure over but his pride intact.

The 67-year-old has coached at six different World Cups but won his first game with a country other than his native Brazil when the hosts beat France 2-1 in their last Group A game.

The result was not enough to clinch a place in the second round but ensured an honourable exit. Parreira choked back the emotion as he reflected on his two stints in charge, the second from last November seeing just one defeat in 15 matches.

"I'm happy I worked for this country and they gave me support. There is a real meaning when the people say they are proud of you. We had nothing before but what we did here was a great achievement," he told a news conference.

"What these boys did for me over the last seven months, I have to thank them very much. I am so happy for this."

Parreira said he believed he had left a foundation for his successor. South African Football Association president Kirsten Nematandani told Reuters on Tuesday that his replacement would be announced before the end of the World Cup finals.

"If I'm proud of anything, it is giving this side an identity. Now they have to look ahead to the (next) African Nations Cup and then the qualifiers for the next World Cup.

"I told them I want to be their guide (at the finals) in Brazil in 2014. I am waiting for them there," he added.

Fabio Capello: I'm Not Crazy, England Can Win World Cup 2010

Boss confident Three Lions can end 44-year wait.

England manager Fabio Capello has insisted that his team will reach the second round of the 2010 World Cup and can win the tournament.
The Three Lions must beat Slovenia today in Port Elizabeth or go out of the competition, but the Italian maintains that his men have enough quality to intimidate any team in South Africa.
"I am not crazy," he told reporters.

"When I said my target is the final of the World Cup it was because we showed this is a really good squad.

"I think if, no, not if, when we win tomorrow then all the teams have to fight against us."

However, the Italian did concede that his team had not matched the standards they had set themselves in qualification.
"We did really well in qualification but now we are not in a good moment," he added.

"At this moment, we are down from the level that I know, that they know, that we all know. But tomorrow we will be fit to fight. Definitely." Video of Fabio Capello's pre-Slovenia press conference.

Kek has been in charge of Slovenia since January 2007

Slovenia manager Matjaz Kek still believes England can win the World Cup, despite the stuttering start to their campaign in South Africa.

Kek's side currently top Group C with four points, two clear of England, and only need a draw against England on Wednesday to advance to the last 16.

"The quality of England is clear. England, for me, are still a favourite to win the World Cup," he said.

"But if we play our game tomorrow, I am sure we can get to the second round."

Going into the tournament in South Africa, Fabio Capello's side were expected to progress easily from a group which also contains Algeria, ranked 26th in the world, and the US, ranked 14th.

But Kek says that when he saw the draw for the group he felt that Slovenia, who are ranked 33rd, had a real chance of making it through to the second round for the first time in the country's history.

"Prior to the World Cup, I wasn't so sure that England and the United States were sure to reach the second round," he said.
