Engineers vs lawyers, economists, doctors etc
Think all man made things in this world what you use, see, touch, etc. Doctors can’t perform their duties if an engineers didn’t make instruments for them, no body would have been a doctor, lawyer, economist, if engineers didn’t construct buildings/class rooms for them to pursue their studies. Wherever you are now, you must be working, using, sitting, watching, sleeping, living, driving, etc, something engineers made for you. You are now about to contribute to this thread using something engineers made it.

You are taking the matter very superficially-
First off, buildings/class rooms are not the basic needs for studying. Are they? What is needed is a teacher and a student, from there the transfer of knowledge and skills can take place anywhere.
Second, medicine is broad, so broadly you can have preventive vs. clinical and within the clinical part there are disciplines like psychiatry, surgery, internal medicine etc- many a times doctors do not need any instruments to accomplish their duties. By the way, medicine began long ago before engines were discovered! Read about Hippocrates, the father of medicine and you will get some sense of what I am talking about. Think about doctors like James Lind and how he discovered and treated scurvy (Vitamin C deficiency).
There are many more stories but let me just end here for now!

This question is similar to asking "Where is the end of the world".The world, though bounded, has no beginning nor end.

Good Economist are more important than good doctors just as good doctors are more important than good economists.

And good economists are just as good as good doctors.And if you get to the nitty gritty you will be comparing the proverbial apples to oranges.

I think education is a foundation for all; doctors, engineers, economists etc. Therefore anybody who facilitate education anamfanya binadamu aongeze maarifa ya kuyatawala mazingira yake vizuri na kwa urahisi, na pia kuirithisha elimu hiyo kwa vizazi vifuatavyo. Kama wakina Newton na Einstein wangekuwa wachoyo wa maarifa waliyojaliwa, na kukaa nayo kimya bila kupublish what they discover, hata vizazi vilivyofuata vingekuwa na wakati mgumu au kwa lugha nyingine, vingechelewa kuyamudu mazingira yao.
Kwa mtazamo wangu, fani zote ni muhimu kwani zinatufanya tuishi mazingira mazuri na kwa urahisi zaidi, lakini anayewaandaa wataalamu hao ni muhimu zaidi, awe doctor, engineer, economist, teacher etc.
