The youth of any nation are its potential energy. They are a source ofpride and hope for their country. However, if this energy is notharnessed and directed in a positive manner, it can potentiallybecome disruptive and dangerous to society. The youth population is highly impacted by the detrimental effectsof corruption.

They are discouraged due to inequality andimmorality in the society, non-availability of opportunities, breakdown of family values, unemployment, poor or inadequateeducation, so first they become victim of corruption and eventuallybecome the corrupt.

To combat these pervasive issues, it is crucialfor the youth to raise their voices against corruption and activelywork towards its eradication. In order to effectively combat corruption, it is crucial to activelyinvolve the younger generation.

Youth constitutes a considerable segment of thepopulation, particularly in developing nations, andtends to be more receptive to societaladvancements and political reform. This is primarilybecause they often possess a lesser inclination touphold the existing order and are more inclinedtowards fostering positive change.

In Tanzania, for many youths, the concept of corruption lacks aclear definition. In their perspective, any wrongdoing that violatesthe law is generally perceived by the youth as corruption.Within the realm of government, a fresh wave of politicians and civilservants from the younger generation is emerging.

They areadvocating for greater inclusivity and transparency in the decisionmaking process. We are fortunate to have a good number of honest civil servantswho are engaged in various endeavors, ranging from combatingcorruption within the government to ensuring fair justice at the locallevel. At both the national and global levels, we are witnessing theemergence of young activists who are pushing for accountabilityagenda.
