(CNN)Once upon a time, America's new presidents enjoyed a honeymoon upon taking office -- think Eisenhower, Kennedy, Reagan and Obama. But after a wide ranging and often combative press conference Wednesday, it is obvious that the opening weeks of the Donald Trump presidency will be the stormiest of modern times.

"Trump was also far off base in his rampage against CNN, calling it a fake news organization and insulting its top people. Unlike BuzzFeed, which published the memos themselves, CNN purposely did not.

Instead, it broke an important and legitimate news story -- that four of America's top intelligence chiefs last week informed President Obama, Trump and congressional leaders that the memos were in wide circulation."

Trump slides in poll, even among Trump voters
Most presidents-elect ride to Inauguration Day with higher poll numbers than Donald Trump, who is sliding even before being sworn in. A new Quinnipiac poll shows majorities of Americans don't think he will govern well.

Hivi, is it me or does it seem like him and his adm are kind of isolating themselves already?!
Hiki kipindi sio most of them wanakuwa all over the place working on transition and briefing the media and the country of what's going on?!

It's not the same candidate Trump who's with media almost every day, huku anasema wengineo wasiofanya PCs. Na sasa ni mshike kufanya PC.
No wonder hata walompigia kura wana wasiwasi sasa.

Watoto wa MUJINI wana msemo wao kui huwa wanasema "wamebugi" na hapa wamebugi big time. Miaka hii minne ijayo nadhani tutaona madudu ambayo hatujawahi kuyaona in the history of USA.

Huku kwingine nako kuna hii a bit sensitive issue, amewa bore hawa nao.

Big security risks in Trump feud with spy agencies, officials say

"..A top official at one intelligence agency said a growing number of intelligence officers over the age of 50 and with at least 20 years of service, including at least five years overseas, have drafted and in many cases signed but not dated their resignation letters"..

Sasa kuna media na watu kama hawa na umuhimu wao kama wameboreka na wanaanza kumtoka, not a very good sign. Hata kama ataweka wa kwake, kupoteza watu muhimu wa hivi whom some of them have 20 yrs experience, is somehow a disadvantage.

WOW! This will be a huge loss to US' intel community. I hope something will be done by the senate and congress to stop this.

Hao wa kwake hawana experience yoyote ile ambayo kwenye hii field ina umuhimu mkubwa sana na watu mpaka waanze kujenga imani kwako kuhusu intel top secrets zozote zile ambazo wanataka kushare.

That's the point. With all those years in service imagine how many secrets, of how many countries they know around the globe, (Intel wise) for them to just leave the Agency with all that Info.

  • The CIA director rebuffed Trump for criticizing the intelligence community
  • He said Trump could imperil the country by not affording them respect

Washington (CNN) CIA Director John Brennan implored President-elect Donald Trump to put his confidence in the intelligence community and develop an "appreciation" for the effect his words could have on national security.

The CIA chief defended his agency and said in a Sunday interview with Fox News' Chris Wallace that the CIA was not trying to harm the incoming president or his team.
"There is no interest in undermining the President-elect and the team coming in. It's our responsibility to make sure they understand exactly the dangers that are out there," Brennan said.

Trump has slammed the intelligence community repeatedly over the past few weeks in response to what he said was unfair coverage caused by leaked information from intelligence officials.
First on Twitter and then at his first news conference since July, Trump likened the leaks to "Nazi Germany." Brennan called the Nazi reference "outrageous."

"I do take great umbrage at that, and there is no basis for Mr. Trump to point fingers at the intelligence community or leaking information that was already available publicly," Brennan said.
Brennan bristled at Trump's public displays of contempt for the intelligence community and said Trump needed to understand his words could undermine national security.
"If he doesn't have confidence in the intelligence community, what signal does that send to our partners and allies, as well as our adversaries?" Brennan said.

The CIA director and formal deputy national security adviser to Obama also warned Trump on Russia, saying he did not believe Trump understood the threat of Russia, while also saying he hoped the Trump administration would be able to see an improvement in the US-Russia relationship.

"I don't think he has a full appreciation of Russian capabilities, Russia's intentions," Brennan said, adding that Trump "does not yet" fully appreciate what embracing Russia might mean.
And with just a few days remaining in office, Brennan looked ahead to the incoming national security team, naming Trump's picks for secretary of defense, CIA director and secretary of homeland security.

"They are the ones that are going to be able to give him some wise counsel about what he needs to do and not be very spontaneous," he said. "It's more than just about Mr. Trump. It's about the United States of America."

CNN's Meghan Puryear and Leah Freeman contributed to this report.

The highlighted and this, says it all. Imagine a vigorous adversary like Putin thinks, when he see this conflict between POTUS and the security team.
