Uganda's Ministry of Health has confirmed a total of 19 Ebola cases as of June 5, 2026, following the detection of three new infections among individuals who had already been identified as contacts of confirmed patients and placed under institutional quarantine.
Health officials reported that the newly confirmed cases were being closely monitored by response teams, highlighting the effectiveness of the country's surveillance and contact tracing systems.
In a positive development, four patients have successfully recovered from the disease and have since been discharged from treatment facilities.
Thirteen patients remain admitted and are receiving medical care, while the death toll stands at two. The latest fatality was a Congolese national who succumbed to the disease. Health authorities extended their condolences to the bereaved family.
According to the Ministry of Health, all confirmed cases are linked to the current outbreak that originated in Ituri Province in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) in mid-May 2026.
Officials emphasized that the outbreak remains under control, noting that the newly confirmed cases were already in quarantine and therefore posed minimal risk of further transmission within communities.
The Ministry has reassured the public and international travelers that Uganda remains safe and open for business, tourism, and travel, while response teams continue to strengthen surveillance at border points and monitor contacts of confirmed cases.
