Uganda has gone ten consecutive days without recording a new Ebola case, a significant milestone in the country's efforts to contain the outbreak.
The Uganda Media Centre announced that no new infections have been registered over the past ten days, raising optimism that transmission of the virus may be slowing down. The development comes amid intensified surveillance, contact tracing, public awareness campaigns and treatment efforts by health authorities and partners.
The positive trend has also been accompanied by an increase in recoveries. More patients are expected to be discharged from treatment facilities, after successfully completing treatment and testing negative for the virus.
Health experts have welcomed the progress but cautioned against complacency, noting that continued vigilance is necessary to prevent new infections and ensure the outbreak is fully brought under control. Surveillance teams remain on high alert, monitoring contacts and responding to any suspected cases that may arise.
The Ministry of Health has repeatedly urged members of the public to continue observing preventive measures, report suspected cases promptly and cooperate with health workers in ongoing response activities.
