This is strange. So strange.
The POTUS has gone AWOL while his country is imploding.
The [peaceful] demonstrations and the riots are showing no signs of letting up, 6 days in now.
I am no constitutional scholar. Matter of fact, I’ve been told my education level is just the 12th grade [Form 4]. I’m fine with that.
However, I do understand a bit about the 10th amendment of the US Constitution.
By-golly, the silence at the top leadership of the US about what’s going on, is weird.
Optics matter. Even if one’s powers are limited by the constitution. Still, optics matter. He can’t even act like he is on top of it?
At a time when there’s so much precariousness, leadership is what is needed the most.
Talking to the nation and reassuring the people that you’ve got their back, can go a long way.
But instead of that, folks get tweets of mainly faux bravado.
He is cooped up in the White House bunker running his Twitter fingers blaming others and picking petty fights.
There’s a general election in November and he is doing all that he can to not get re-elected.
This is so bizarre. Dereliction of duty of the highest order.
Maybe the guy has resigned already and they’re are figuring out how to relay it to people...
Otherwise, how do you explain the silence and the inaction?
I reckon any other president would have been ten toes down in projecting calm, showing leadership, giving people hope, and reassuring them that things will be better for every citizen of the US. That’s not what’s happening.
Maybe there’s some political calculus behind this lack of leadership. Maybe there’s. Maybe.
I am astonished!
Keisha Lance-Bottoms for President....
